Rest in Peace, Mr. Dever. May your family, friends, and fellow LE officials be comforted by God's Hands. Mr. Dever (Sir), you will be missed, greatly. Am asking God to setup another welcome home for you, Mr. Dever. Well Done, is the cry from Heaven you (Sir) shall have already heard.

I hope the “sketchy details” don’t turn into anything other than this was an accident.

Oh, how tragic. My thoughts are with his family.
What a stellar public servant. A dedicated man like him is going to be tough to replace. How utterly sad to lose him.

From the Flagstaff newspaper:
Larry Dever, the four-term Republican sheriff of Cochise County, has died in a one-vehicle crash near the northern Arizona town of Williams. He was 60.
Dever's death was confirmed early Wednesday by the sheriff's department. The department declined to release details of the crash or his death.
Larry Dever, Cochise County sheriff, dies at 60
That location (Williams) is many hundreds of miles away from Cochise County. Strange that no details are being released so it still may be under investigation.

Ping...
This is a sad day for Cochise County, Arizona, and for those who are fighting to halt the intolerable damage caused by unchecked illegal immigration.
Larry was my friend, and this is not going to be a good day.

A story on azcentral this morning said there had been other fatal accidents on that particular road where Dever’s was killed. Probably an accident, but the investigation isn’t over. These days, expect anything.

We lost a police officer in a single vehicle accident over the weekend. Hodgenville Police Officer Mark Taulbee was pursuing a suspect eastbound on KY-210 when the dispatcher lost contact with him. A backup officer found him wrecked in a field. Apparently he'd lost control, spun, struck an embankment on the driver's side, and went airborne. Even though he was wearing his seatbelt, he was still ejected from the vehicle. He was medevaced to Louisville, but died a few hours later.
Over in Britain, two female police constables were ambushed and killed by a wanted murderer, who used a hand grenade to destroy their vehicle. This was the first incident since the 1960's in which two British police were killed in the same altercation.
A sad week for law enforcement.
