Romney looks to steady shaky campaign

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is trying to steady a shaky campaign as President Barack Obama, enjoying a burst of momentum, heads to New York for a celebrity fundraiser with Beyoncé and Jay-Z and a star turn on David Letterman's couch.

Romney is trying to contain the political fallout of an unauthorized video of him telling donors that almost half of all Americans "believe they are victims" entitled to extensive government support and adding that as a candidate for the White House, "my job is not to worry about those people." Romney was also trying to shake stories that his campaign was in disarray and looking for a change in direction seven weeks before Election Day.

The fact is, Romney told the truth. And he was right: most of those hard core 0bama zombies are never going to vote GOP, and if we take that 47 percent figure as being accurate, Romney rightly should be going after the 53 percent of the voters who are NOT sucking the government teat for everything possible.

He shouldn't apologize for telling the truth for once...

And as far as the "unauthorized" leaks go, its clear that he hired many of the same perpetually disgruntled GOP-E staffers that doomed McCain's campaign by running to Mike Allen to grind their axes. He needs to call an all-hands meeting and then perform the ancient Roman ritual of decimation to weed out the troublemakers and make an example of them.

That is, IF he actually wants to win...which I doubt.

They continue this mantra that its the Romney campaign thats on shaky ground, yet the campaign for Zero seems to be coming off at the wheels.

The explosion in Mideast violence, rising gas prices and an economy that continues to slide are disasters for Zero. I just don't see Romney as the weakened candidate right now.

Yet the Rasmussen tracking poll has Romney ahead, and that’s coming off a weekend and coming off the post-convention “bounce”.

You’re right; I don’t see Romney as the one with the problems. The economy (encompassing the higher-than-reported unemployment and inflation) should suffice to sink Obama; until a month ago he acted as though nothing was wrong.

By saying “my job is not to worry about those people” Romney meant he would not fret about not being able to win their vote because they have a vested interest in supporting his opponent. And in that he was absolutely right. Of course the MSM and the Obamanation regime (one and the same)will distort his meaning to bolster their charge that he is a callous, uncaring, conservative rich guy.

For God's sake, Mitt, how could you let anyone know that De Toqueville was actually right? De Toqueville can be admired in the abstract for his prescience, but he MUST be denied if the merde has actually impacted virtually every blade of the fan... and now here you go telling the truth. We can't have that.

This is Romney’s “the bombing starts in 5 minutes” moment. The press will be apoplectic, while most people are shouting enthusiastic support.

I think that so-called “gaffe” may end up being a very effective campaign theme. I know quite a few people who fit right in that 47% group ... but would hate to think of themselves as being part of a minority in any given situation.

If you view Romney’s comments in contrast to Obama’s trip to a NYC fund-raiser with Jay-Z and Beyonce (whoever the hell those two mutants are), and you can see just which candidate is completely disconnected from what we used to know as the American spirit.

I think you two fine FReepers have it right. This is not the 'gaffe' that the 0bamunist Ministry of disInformation (aka the media) would have everyone believe.

The fact is, the entire 0bama mee-mee is going bad on every front, the economy (credit rating dropped again), national security ('duh'), and the increasing oppression of Constitutional freedoms and liberties. THIS is the big issue that isn't spoken of openly, but Americans are good and pissed off about the fascist Dept of so-called Homeland Security and especially their brownshirts in blueshirts, the 'TSA'. George W. Bush may have created that behemoth, but it has been the 0bama regime that totally unleashed it without restraints.

The only voters who won't be pulling the lever for Romney & Ryan are of course the bought and paid for zombies who are on the dole from the government in addition to the holier-than-thou ideological conservative purists who would rather see another 4 years of that filthy Kenyan Communist, than to vote for Romney & Ryan.

It's going to be close, especially when one factors in the traditional 'Rat voter fraud they will be engaging in, but I think 0bama is done for come November 6th.

.

Reading a few valid points here ... although the "reality" is that Willard is a lousy candidate ...

with a poorly-delivered message ... no original ideas ... just thoughts that he's stolen from Newt, Sarah, Perry and Santorum ...

much like (failed) GOP presidential candidates Wilke and Thomas Dewey ...

Romney will be destroyed in the upcoming debates.

The GOP RINO-Elite clearly wants Obama to win a second term ...

It's a real shame that Rush Limbaugh and others have to attempt to save Romney's pathetic campaign (on a daily basis) ...

by telling us conservatives "what Myth really meant to say" after Gaffe # 12,986 ...

It must be tough for Myth right now, trying to dump that "Severely Conservative" thingee ... while he (last week) said that he wanted to KEEP parts of Obama-Care ...

Time to flame-away, oh ye Myth-Botts ...

So now we can see the setup: The "Romney Campaign in Disarray" story was spread around the MSM all day Monday in preparation for the 47% video.

Something to consider, though, is that America is now being overwhelmed by problems that may very well be unsolvable. So it's important for credible candidates to avoid making promises they can't possibly keep even under the best of circumstances. If that's the case, then we may as well end up with a government run by jack@sses who normal, decent, law-abiding people don't feel a need to obey anyway.

This is exactly where we are with Barack Obama, by the way.

Romney needs to have a simple campaign theme here ... He needs to tell people that this entire system is broken, that he's the best candidate to try to fix it, and to lay out some very simple, measurable improvements he'd pursue. At a bare minimum, he needs to make it clear to the American people that as long as he is President, we will never see U.S. officials murdered in foreign countries filled with @ssholes who have been armed by our own government.

That last point needs to be hammered home ... repeatedly. He needs to call out the U.S. media and humiliate them ... by pointing out that the same U.S. media that couldn't get enough of itself when some jack@ss in Iraq threw a shoe at President Bush a few years ago has gone to such great lengths to avoid reporting on the demise of a U.S. diplomat getting killed and dragged through the streets of some sh!t-hole in the Middle East.

The problem all along has been that the Republicans did not have good candidates to oppose Obama, and we are stuck with one of the mediocre lot that we began with. The only consolation to me is that we have some good ones, such as Rubio, Ryan, and possibly Cruz or Scott Walker, for next time.

A good candidate would be winning the country over with facts and logic. Maybe the revealing of the “47%” remark will be a good thing if it forces Romney to take off the gloves and make his case.
