Rep. Todd Akins wife, Lulli Akin, says the Republican Partys attempts to push her husband out of the Missouri Senate race over his false assertion that women who are raped rarely get pregnant are like rape itself. RELATED: Akin TV Ad Buy Canceled For Failure To Pay Station
She also believes the GOPs abandonment is on par with the tyranny that launched the American Revolution.
Akins wife isnt the first one to compare Akins explosive rape comments, and the ensuing fallout, to rape: Bryan Fischer said the partys treatment of the embattled candidate had made Akin a victim of forcible assault.
Lulli Akin made the charge in a new National Journal profile, which reveals a family affair of a campaign Akins campaign manager is his son, and Lulli is also a key player.
Lulli Akin says in the profile that she is not turned off by the refusal of national Republicans to contribute money to the race. She says small donations and Gods will will help her husband win:
God can increase, she said, citing the Feeding of the 5,000 a Gospel miracle in which Jesus uses five small barley loaves and two small fish to feed a multitude. The campaign will take small contributions, respect them, and say God, multiply it. Make it pay, Lulli Akin said. It brought us through the primary, same way. Were gonna see it again, because God wants to be honored.
Lulli Akin echoed her husbands disdain for Republican leaders:
Lulli Akin said that efforts to push her husband out of the race threaten to replace elections by the people and for the people with tyranny, a top-down approach. She added, Party bosses dictating who is allowed to advance through the party and make all the decisionsits just like 1776 in that way.
She cited colonists who rose up and said, Not in my home, you dont come and rape my daughters and my wife. But that is where we are again. There has been a freedom of elections, not tyranny of selections since way back. Why are we going to roll over and let them steamroll us, be it Democrats or Republicans or whomever?
Todd Akin said his wifes comparisons to 1776 were a little more grandiose than the way I would say it but he did say that there is a this tremendous sense of uprising I feel among the people I talk to.
Make sure everyone shares this with Drudge, Sean Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin so we can make sure every independent knows about this.
We wouldn’t want Akin to win and represent Missourians. Karl Rove, Haley Barbor must be appeased by sacrificing conservatives. Establishment Republicans are the only way we can win and turn the country around!
Tea Party, Christians, conservatives need not apply! We’ll take your votes, but you must sit in the back of the bus and mind your superiors.
Thanks for posting!
Elect Akin or live in a communist country.
Choose wisely.
I cannot understand these personal attacks against an honorable man. He didn't server as a grand wizard in the KKK or leave a girl to drown in his car or lie under oath about having sex with an intern in the oval office or be accused of rape. What exactly has he done to deserve such attacks? Maybe he is too conservative for the GOP. After all, he has a 97.24 lifetime ACU rating, voted against TARP and the prescription drug progam, and is stauchly pro-life.
over his false assertion that women who are raped rarely get pregnant
***********************************************
Only one problem here , it’s true , in fact pregnancy following any single sex act is pretty rare... these people have been bitch slapped by the very people that should have supported them ... the original statement was explainable and technically correct... it’s understandable that they are “flustrated” by the GOP ,, we have a lot to learn from the rats.
These two should stay away from the word “rape” until after the election, but other than that, I’d say she’s right. We have a corrupt, left-leaning GOP which is consciously trying to make one of their own candidates lose. And remember now, while the election will have national consequences, it is still a MISSOURI election, and the GOP country-clubbers who don’t even live there, probably never even been to Missouri, are trying to screw with it. To hell with the GOP.
In my 30 years of being an LEO (now retired), I interviewed countless rape victims. Comparing politics to a RAPE is asinine, ridiculous, idiotic, unprofessional and just plain wrong.
Now, I sure don’t want McCaskil to win and I don’t support anything the GOP-e does, but Todd Akin and his wife better pull their heads out of their rears.
re: We dont want GOP Establishment party bosses deciding who MO Senate candidate should be. If you belive in conservative principles send your donation xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If the party bosses win this one they might try it in your State next election.

No thanks. Flushing money down the toilet is not something I find financially prudent. Any money I may give during this campaign season will go to someone who has a chance to win. The whole family is arrogant and delusional. There are other equally conservative and pro-life candidates who can beat McCasKILL. He insults us when he says - “It’s not about me.” What a disgusting lie.
Akin is an idiot. There is no loyalty in politics. It is all about winning, no different than professional sports. You don’t keep a Running Back who’s lost a step on your team, you cut him and bring in the next best person. Politics is the same. Akin made some idiotic comments that he can’t recover from and the GOP can’t defend. He was doomed the moment he opened his mouth and starting blathering on about women’s bodies closing up and magically preventing pregnancy when raped. And no, don’t try to defend those comments - even Akin doesn’t try to defend them.
This seat is more important than Akin. There are plenty of solid pro-lifers who could have stepped in and beat Claire. As is, Akin will lose and liberal McCaskill will keep the seat for 6 more years for the Democrats.
Allen couldn't stop aologizing. He should and could have ended it with a stronger response to this fabricated gaffe.
There are a great number of people who have honorably served this country, however not all are well suited to be a US Senator. This includes Todd Akin. He may be a vet, he may be a conservative, he may be a very nice man. However, he does not have the skills required to run a statewide campaign. If his comments regarding rape didn’t demonstrate his lack of skills, his wife’s comments show an even greater lack of discipline. This is not about the establishment wanting to elect a RINO, its about beating McCaskill in a year when she is very vulnerable. All Akin had to do is stay on message and be disciplined — he screwed up badly and is about to hand McCaskill 6 more years to oppose the tea party/conservative agenda.
It is the truth.
If a liberal were paying his family from campaign funds do you think that it wouldn't be relevant?
It is not like Akin were going to be replaced by a pro-life liberal candidate!
Anyone who wants Akin to remain as a candidate for Senate - it is up to THEM to fund him. His family really needs the money.
Outsiders don't DARE to tell us who we get as our candidate/ how DARE you not send in outside money to keep his campaign (and family) rolling in money!
That right there is funny!!!!
Exactly... she's driving it all right... off the electoral cliff. This all wouldn't be such an issue if it were CAL, where some nondescript sacrificial lamb goes up against Dianne Feinstein, or Tom Smith vs. Bob Casey in PA. The race in MO was winnable.
You don't have to spell anything out. I know the situation re: Allen, and I agree he was a fool to keep apologizing. For the record, I didn't vote for Allen in the primary... I supported Jamie Radtke. As for the "harmless" verbal gaffe... we see it as harmless, but every GOPer should know we have a hostile media waiting in the weeds to pounce on every single slip-up, so they have to be doubly careful of the words they use. Unlike democrats, GOPers don't get a mulligan when it comes to that.
Who is WE? Do you vote in MO? The GD GOP has put up a dim rat for POTUS and the hate brigade on FR go all Rove on a Senate CN from MO....it’s pitiful.
“We” = those of us keeping an eye on polling data there. No, I don’t vote in MO. Are you seeing something other than an impending loss for Akin, besides “God’s will” and “I have a feeling?”
Such drama queens
The GOP doesn't have the power to "cut him" out of the race. It is up to Akin and the voters who elected him to be the nominee in the primary to decide. If the GOP had not jumped the gun and publicly humiliated someone who had served the party well at the state and federal level for 24 years, it may have been able to convince him to withdraw. The GOP screwed up and Akin refused to bow to such pressure and humiliation.
Akin made some idiotic comments that he cant recover from and the GOP cant defend. He was doomed the moment he opened his mouth and starting blathering on about womens bodies closing up and magically preventing pregnancy when raped. And no, dont try to defend those comments - even Akin doesnt try to defend them.Akin offered an apology and an explanation of why he said what he said. He should have used forcible instead of legitimate. The FBI has set up various categories of rape. One is forcible to distinguish it from statutory and other forms of rape. Akin and Paul Ryan had sponsored a bill that passed the House that would have limited federal funding for abortion to forcible rape. As far as the other dubious scientific claim about whether pregnancy is more or less likely to result in the cases of rape, Akin was just expressing a view.
Alkin apologized almost immediately saying he meant forcible and that he was not saying that rapes don't result in pregnancies. The GOP refused to accept that apology and publicly humiliated him. They could have just as easily said that the GOP disassociates itself from such comments, note that Akin has apologized, and now it was time for the voters of MO to see where Akin and McCaskill stand on such issues as Obamacare, the stimulus, debt and deficit, etc. It is pretty obvious there was another agenda in this case. The GOP Establishment was unhappy that Akin won the primary. They put enormous pressure on him to force him out before the Tuesday deadline.
This seat is more important than Akin. There are plenty of solid pro-lifers who could have stepped in and beat Claire. As is, Akin will lose and liberal McCaskill will keep the seat for 6 more years for the Democrats.
I blame the GOP for not handling this matter well at all. It is a self-fulfilling prophesy. And we still have people here attacking Akin. Why is the GOP still allowing Akin to twist slowly in the wind? Do you think it helps Romney? For better or worse, Akin is the nominee of the party. He is very conservative and would make a far better senator than McCaskill. Will the 71% of the people of MO who voted in a referendum to not join Obamacare vote to reelect a senator who voted for Obamacare and is against repeal. Does a verbal gaffe neutralize McCaskill's voting record? We shall see.
There is only one person who decides whether Akin will remain the candidate or not. HIS NAME IS TODD AKIN. HE WON THE GOP PRIMARY. HE IS THE NOMINEE FUNDS OR NO FUNDS.
