I highly doubt the feral dogs that did it asked if he was gay before they raped him, because someone doesn't have to be gay to get raped.
We don’t know if he was killed because he was a homosexual. Two Marines were killed, and one (IIRC) former Navy SEAL. One article I read said two more Americans were killed. They were not all killed for reasons of homosexuality.

In the past 35 years, during the rise of militant anti-American Islam, how many other U.S. Ambassadors have been killed and repeatedly raped? If he was killed and raped because he was a U.S. Ambassador then all U.S. Ambassadors would be killed and raped. Or at least some.
