The Taliban have announced that Prince Harry was the main target of an attack last night on his base in Afghanistan, which left two U.S. Marines dead and others injured.
Insurgents armed with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles stormed heavily-fortified Camp Bastion, the British HQ in Helmand, in a deadly assault on the aviation area.
A commander for the radical Islamic movement told Sky News the Prince was their primary target and secondly as revenge for an amateur anti-Muslim video recently posted on YouTube.
'We attacked that base because Prince Harry was also on it and so they can know our anger,' Taliban spokesman Qari Youssef Ahmadi said by telephone.
He added, 'Thousands more suicide attackers are ready to give up their lives for the sake of the Prophet.'
The 27-year-old Royal arrived on the frontline last week to fly Apache attack helicopters - which have the highest kill rate.

Why was his whereabouts ever published? Why did they even say he was going to Afghanistan? He’s a brave guy, but they can use his bravery elsewhere and should get him out of Afghanistan ASAP...along with all the rest of our guys and the Brits. What are we accomplishing there anymore?
I’ve heard he wasn’t even on that side of the base. Why attack the US side, not the UK side? I’m more fed up with Obama than I am these useless idiots so ready to die.
Same thing goes for the media drama queens. I know of some commanders who would not allow Whore-aldo anyhwere near their soldiers.
Why is it that we have to hear about our troops deaths from foreign news sources? Why aren’t these deaths a top news story? Wasn’t every US casualty a major story when president Bush was in the white house?
(All rhetorical questions of course)
“Why was his whereabouts ever published? Why did they even say he was going to Afghanistan? “
Perhaps in an effort to overcome his recent bad press?
His previous deployment was under the radar.
I think he was hurried off over there ahead of schedule due to the bad press, but they should never have shouted out his whereabouts. Not only is he a target but all those around him, too! Disgusting!

Others are put at greater risk so the figurehead prince can be part of the action. Seems selfish on his part.
They need to add Blackwater to the mix. They saved my bacon more than once in Iraq.
But your ascribing of "selfish" motives to him, and others calling him a "panty-waist", a "figurehead" and other names are insulting, spiteful and juvenile. He can't help what family he was born into, he ASKED for duty in a dangerous cauldron....and furthermore, members of the English royal family have served in the military and in its country's wars throughout history.....many of them serving nobly, bravely and unselfishly, and some even giving up their lives for their country.

The last I knew , as a soldier , you go where you are ordered ; it isn’t up to a vote .
I fault the media who announced his location.
I believe that the AQ lost 17 men in the attack; unfortunately, we also lost 2 Americans.
Islam is the political/religious force of “Piece”
Islam means “SUBMISSION” ~ not free agency.
Say what you will about Harry, he may be a bit wild and like to party but I would never call him a panty waisted Prince. His is an Apache helicopter pilot who has flown in combat missions in Afghanistan and FWIW, the men who have served with him have nothing bad to say about Harry. The worst thing one could say about Harry is that he is not PC and I consider that a good thing BTW.
Harry isnt and doesnt want to be treated like a celebrity while on duty; he just wants to serve his country.

He had no choice. He was ordered to go there. His arrival in Afghanistan as covered heavily in the MSM, which should never have happened. Now he and everyone else on that base are in danger.
Wait, does anyone know where the media published his “exact” location? There are many locations over there.
He’s not an ordinary soldier. He does not have to be there. The army could determine that the risks to Harry and other soldiers are simply too great and could potentially create even greater problems if he’s killed, wounded or captured. This is a publicity stunt, plain and simple, to help restore his image after the Las Vegas incident. The military pulls people out of combat all the time for a variety of reasons. This base has never been attacked like this before, and this publicity stunt cost two American Marines their lives.
From his past record, Harry was brave in combat. This isn’t fair to him either, because he is the number one target of every Taliban in Afghanistan.
He was already schedule to go, but after his shenanigans in Vegas, they rushed him off, to put an end to his partying and keep him away from the paparazzi.
Re: If I was the base commander, no panty waisted British prince would be allowed on the base
Beg to differ, I was stationed with an attack helicopter unit in Iraq and I would not call an AH 64 driver a panty waist, royalty or not.
Yea, right. Afghanistan's a nice vacation spot as long as you don't send a British royal over there to piss off the muslims......
The evidence is right in front of you. They attacked this base and killed two US Marines because they think he’s there.
There we have it.
There's no changing the minds of those cretins.
