US:Warships move toward Libya,consulate in Berlin evacuated [The purpose : keep focus offshore]

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. officials say the Pentagon is moving two warships to the Libyan coast, in the aftermath of the attack in Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador and three others.

Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed when an armed mob stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi Tuesday and set it ablaze.

Officials say one destroyer, the USS Laboon, moved to a position off the coast Wednesday, and the USS McFaul is en route and should be stationed off the coast within days. The officials say the ships, which carry Tomahawk missiles, do not have a specific mission. But they give commanders flexibility to respond to any mission ordered by the president.

U.S. investigators are looking into whether the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya was a coordinated terrorist assault to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and not just spontaneous mob violence triggered by an anti-Islam video on YouTube.

I believe congress mandated that they be keep in fighting condition, just in case. Nothing impresses as much as an Iowa class battleship cruising a few miles offshore. Not even an aircraft carrier impresses like an old WW2 battleship. Sure wish we had a new one with modern 16 inch guns. Bet new guns could get twice the range of the WW2 guns maybe even longer. I have read that close to 100 miles is possible for a big modern gun. Oh and the HE round is 2,000 lbs, makes a very big bang when it goes off. The AP round can penetrate 160 feet of reenforced packed earth. Forgotten the penetration on concrete but it was impressive too.

On a slightly more serious note, I smell a wag the dog thing coming where Obama hurls a few cruise missiles into the desert (the modern day equivalent of Decatur’s balls) to make a show of strength while actually doing nothing. I agree that there is a high probablity of that and it would fit right in with my suspicions that numerous events on Sept. 11th were orchestrated for a greater purpose. Lobbing some missiles at some empty tents would help his re-election prospects and provide cover for behind the scenes fomentation of the "Arab street."

What's so funny about Communists like Obama and Hitlery, is that they are in the end, always eaten by their muslim allies- every single time.
