Just found this off of Reddit and thought it would make good FR fodder.

I smell astroturf.
Anyone traced Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod's email and phone activity over the last 24 hours?

I tend to agree that they are people with sense. The Obama Regime is screwing a lot of decent people in the Middle East, along with screwing us. I wish I read Arabic other than the word “the.”

A reporter in Libya spoke about this today. She said there were about 150 people. They were all being photographed & video taped so they could be identified later, so people were afraid to join the demonstration.

Looks like 50 folks passing around the same signs.
Nice try.

Don’t the SEIU or AFL-CIO piggies have some “brother hoods” in Cairo? They bought the pizzas for the piggies in Madison when the union scabs there took over the capitol.

Here are some sign translations (also from a Reddit user) FWIW:
- No, no, no to Al Qaida
- No to Al Qaida, no to terrorism; this is a young people's revolution
- Arrest the killers [lit. armed men] today
- No place for Al-Qaida here
- The flavor of terrorism is not for Libya
- Enough retaliation, we want [cut off, probably "peaceful"] reactions
- Islam is innocent, the traitors are spoiling our [cut off]
- Do you reward for good other than good?
- Whoever has no conscience, remember that God waits but does not neglect

We probably do have a few friends in Libya, even Benghazi. The problem is the same one that the Palestinians face. You show any hint of friendship toward Israel or the West, and your family is destroyed.
I’m not sure what’s actually going on here, but my take is that it is a staged event. Even some of the people standing there didn’t seem to like it much.
I’d like to know what some of the signs on the walls of the buildings were depicting. My guess is that they were probably anti-West. Perhaps advertisements, just giving it some thought.

Even when it’s Allah Fubar, there are always good people caught up in the mix.....don’t dismiss them all....patience with them will go a long way.

I have known a few Libyans, and I cannot imagine that the ordinary people would condone the killers. Even though their country has been through terrible times, the average person is not bad.
The people joining this demonstration are literally putting their lives on the line. The terrorists could be hunting them down tomorrow. Honestly, would you be as brave as these people?
