General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke with Pastor Terry Jones by phone on Wednesday and asked him to withdraw his support for a film whose portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad has sparked violent protests - including one that ended with the death of America's envoy to Libya

General Martin Dempsey needs to resign.

Did the good general offer to burn a copy of the Declaration of Independence as a show of good faith with the Muslim Brotherhood?

So, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is now a propaganda enforcer for POTUS and you support that? Near as I can tell, Alter Kaker is going thread to thread attempting to foment hatred for Terry Jones.
I'm proud to say he's not getting much traction,.
To: kristinn
At this point, Dempsey has sadly become another useful infidel..

Don't be ridiculous. Of course we have Freedom of Speech which is why General Dempsey had to ASK the idiot pastor to stop endangering American lives and did not ORDER him to do so.
He didn't "ask" him.
He asked him AND put that event in the major media so that
1. America had a fundamentalist to blame for the death of an ambassador....and not an islamic fundamentalist, and
2. Obama could hide behind a military uniform

What makes this idiot Dempsey think that if we accommodate these psychotic thugs they won't get just as "inflamed" about something else, no matter how trivial?
How stupid does this have to get?

A GENERAL, strong arming a private citizen asking them to change their behavior? SOVIET KGB comes to mind..

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs notwithstanding, he cannot do what you just said he would do if he were a real military leader. He is under civilian military leadership. You’ve got to be kidding.
As for the part where he reportedly has tried to intervene in regard to this movie, that is totally against his role as well.
It’s hard to believe he would try this.
Stunning!

Seriously? A member of the US military calls a private citizen and "asks" that he do such-and-such for the good of the country? That is ominous.
More evidence that for the DC elites, WE are the enemy.

whatever it is , it should be played on NBC in prime time. and posted on u tube again for all to see.
If, in fact, this was a coordinated attack then it is an act of war and Libya should be a glass factory before sun up.

Your distinction is meaningless and dangerous.
The Gestapo also started by “asking” people to do certain things.
If you as a Freeper cannot see that a question like this by the military leader of the armed forces departs the realm of a polite request and enters firmly the domain of government restrictions of speech, we are doomed.

It was just a friendly suggestion. It’s not like there is anything intimidating about getting a call from the chairman of the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. /s

You do comprehend that this action has nothing at all to do with "asking". It's intimidation. And it's the act of a eunuch general, frankly.
I could just see Patton "asking" a US journalist to stop mocking Hitler because it might make the Nazis mad.

How about they call Hollywood and the TV networks and ask them to stop assaulting Christians in shows like GLEE and NEW NORMAL while they are at it.
This is insanity
