Speaking to reporters in Chicago today, Chicago Mayor Emanuel asserted that President Obama has already backed him up in against striking teachers, because many of his proposed reforms were taken directly from the President's "Race to the Top" education incentives.
"I want you to understand, the president has weighed in," Emanuel said. "Every issue we're talking about regarding accountability of our schools, quality in our schools to the education of our children, is the core thrust of Race to the Top."
Emanuel added that the "notion" of the teacher evaluations he proposed came from Race to the Top.
"In that sense there couldn't be a bigger push for the president," Emanuel insisted.
Emanuel also thanked Mitt Romney's for his statement of support.

Zer0 against an army of teachers?
Obama doesn’t need the unions in Illinois to win that state and besides, he already has their money.
Even though Rush already poisoned their plan to have Ubama ride in on his white horse (is that racist?) and save the day, I think they are stoopid enough to do it anyway.
So far the only national leaders to vocally back Rahm are Romney and Ryan...
“I want you to understand, the president has weighed in,” Emanuel said...”
This is too funny! It’s almost as though Rahm heard Paul Ryan’s comment voicing support for him against the teachers’ union, and then felt compelled to interject Obama into the situation—even though Obama has not made a comment publicly.
In light of the earlier situation of Obama having to change his mind over visiting the damage done by hurricane Isaac in response to Romney’s visit, I have this picture in my head of Obama and his campaign running after Paul Ryan and Romney like a dog chasing a squirrel.
My dogs occasionally catch squirrels, even while on the leash. They are death on ground hogs.
I think the Left sees what happened in WI and they want to pretend to they are on the “people’s side”.
Sure ballet boy keep telling your fruitty self that.
So far, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have weighed in on Rahm Emanuel’s side, and with the Current Occupant at least tacitly aligned against the Chicago teachers’ union, that leaves only Joe Biden, the great intellect, as yet undetermined.
Any chance Joe could put in his $0.02’s worth?
“Any chance Joe could put in his $0.02s worth?”
Oh yes, please! Let’s hear it! :-)
This is funny. Now he has forced the issue. What are the odds that (1) 0bama will remain silent (2) 0bama will come out and agree with Rahm (3) 0bama will come out and agree with the striking teachers (4) 0bama will try to spin some long response that “considers the objectives of both sides of the argument”?
He makes Rahm a liar if he goes with either of the choices 3 and 4.
Fine anf all, but I want to hear it from the “won’s” mouth. Let the little weasel say it himself!
Obama hasn't actually said anything yet. Emanuel is projecting his wishful thinking based on the "Race to the Top" program (which was cribbed from Bush, but of course focusing on blacks).
I doubt that Obama is going to say anything. He's between a rock and hard place, and we all know his response to that: go golfing!
350,000 students and $400 million offered. Is my calculator broken? Sounds like a lot of cash in exchange for each stupid student. I could hire a lot of babysitters for that.
Obozo has to cover his boney Butt he will have Carney come out with a long convoluted “Jerusalem” answer, stating that their position has never changed.
Scr*w those kids! We want our 16% raise and lifetime benefits that 0bama promised us!
So why can’t the slug say it himself? He’s commented on just about everything else that he’s had no business commenting on.
