Can Mitt Romney Avert Defeat in November?
Newsmax ^ | 9/10/2012 | Christopher Ruddy

Posted on 09/10/2012 7:51:48 PM PDT by MacNaughton

Earlier this year it seemed to many that Mitt Romney was a shoo-in to become our next president. Not anymore. ... If I could put my finger on it, I would say the Romney campaign has been poorly managed. They haven't staged their candidate well and their messaging has been incoherent, to put it nicely. ... Earlier this summer Rupert Murdoch tweeted a message that may turn out to be prophetic: "Tough O Chicago pros will be hard to beat unless he [Romney] drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful." ...

For all you Limbaugh listeners who are convinced that everyone in the media is out to sink Romney's campaign with disinformation, you should read Ruddy's analysis of Romney's campaign. It isn't treasonous to the conservative cause to acknowledge our candidate's weaknesses. The other side already knows it.

Adding to Ruddy's quote of Rupert Murdoch, you may recall that retired General Electric CEO Jack Welch and Donald Trump (yeah, I know, with friends like "The Donald" who needs enemies) both said this summer that Romney needed to clean house of his current campaign advisors because they just weren't getting the job done.

I beg to disagree. Personally, I like the cut of that Romley guy’s jib. I think he’s doing a great job!

On the other hand, he’s already picking back up since the Dem convention.

Engage Mitt.

Engage and stay engaged. And also: Rely heavily on your VP pick.

A lot more than you’re currently doing.

CNNs last poll has Romney up by 14 points with indies. If this is correct Romney is the next president

Maybe Romney could bring in some experienced advisors from the last Republican campaign. McCain’s morons. Although that’s likely who he’s got anyway.

John Podhoretz tweeted tonight that they did some reverse engineeering of CNN poll(since they don’t give breakdown of parties) and found that it was actually +15 D over R. He was trying to get an answer from John King if this correct

My understanding was he had some old guards, and replaced them with a new gang.

Just saying. Now’s the time Mitt.

Stand up and do it.

This is key. When we lead by 14 among independents, the ONLY way Obama can win is if Repubs are outnumbered by Dems on election day... Does anyone seriously think that will be the case, because if you don’t, these Dem-oversample polls mean nothing. I personally think we’ll squash them in voter turnout and if Romney retains or increases his independent margin, we’ve won.

My last name may not be Gallup or Harris but even I know if he is up 14 with indies this election is over. So which is it, a faulty poll or a manipulated poll I bet the latter

My best guess would be Romney wins, but look at the polls. Obama is aiming to be a minority elected president and to make whites a permanent minority.

How people can accept this evil racial power play is beyond me.

Mitt and Paul Ryan need to be in the news everyday.

I agree with Dick Morris and Pat Buchanan run the Democrats booing God at the DNC

Attack Polices that the General Public doesn't know about Obama's Polices , we can recite them on FR but I don't think the General Population knows.

Then sell Mitt to the public that will be hard

—>>>This past Sunday on “Meet the Press” we saw another messaging fumble by Romney. He has stated unequivocally for months now he would fully “repeal Obamacare.” But he told NBC’s David Gregory he likes certain provisions of the president's healthcare law, and said he would keep some, including the requirement that insurance companies take people with pre-existing conditions and allowing young adults to be covered by their parents’ policies until age 26.

Not only is this a major reversal of Romney's position, it also counters claims he will repeal the individual mandate.

People here have been posting that Mitt did not say this and here it is-the truth.

I agree. They need to use their assets. Let Ryan be Ryan. Have Romney act like Ryan too. That is the technique that has won us a slew of governor races, the House and many senate races. Proactive conservative solutions. Name the problem, tie it to Obama, give a conservative solution.

I am not in panic mode, but the current message is incoherent and it would or surprise me that they are down a few. They have to sharpen up to win it.

As much as a think Ruddy is out of touch, I think he is right about Romney's advisers. I too think they're far too out-of-touch with the average GOP voter - and sending Romney out with weak and ineffective messages.

If Romney is going to win this race, he needs to quit his 'nice' campaign and start telling it like the American people see it first hand.

Romney isn't going to coast to election on what he's done or said so far (far too little, imho) - I and many others are asking an old question - WHERE'S THE BEEF, ROMNEY? A lot of old-time FReepers know what I mean.

Obama is running ads in Minnesota & Washington. He has pulled out of North Carolina and Indiana.

Obama is in big trouble.

I don’t believe your ‘concern’.
