Romney SHOULD be winning, but isn’t. Why is that?
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 9/10/12 | Jay Bookman

With unemployment still over 8 percent, household income continuing to fall and trillion-dollar deficits stretching out as far as the eye can see, the 2012 presidential race shouldn’t even be close. In fact, economic-based political models suggest that Mitt Romney ought to be strolling to an easy victory.

And yet Romney is losing. When your campaign pollster is forced to release an “OK, Nobody Panic!” memo, as Neil Newhouse did today, it’s never a good sign.

The same is true of the race to control the U.S. Senate. Of the 33 seats being contested this year, only 10 are held by the Republicans. That means that going into this election cycle, the GOP had 23 chances to pick up the four additional seats they need to claim a Senate majority. Given the public’s deep disenchantment with Congress and the willingness of wealthy conservatives to pump big money into those races, the GOP had every reason to be confident that Mitch McConnell would replace Harry Reid as Senate majority leader come January.

And yet that dream may also be slipping away.

Mona Charen had it right this morning on Bill Bennett’s show. The GOP never fought back against the meme that Bush ruined the economy in 2007 and 2008 and most people believe it. Even though it was a 2006 democrat Congress led by Frank and Dodd that caused the housing bubble which burst to threaten our financial system. Bush’s economy was 5.5% unemployment and 3.5% growth before that election. This is the BIG LIE in politics today and the media trumpets it still...that Bush ruined the economy. That’s why Willard can’t get any traction against the “failed policies of the past” propaganda.

Don’t forget the tens of thousands of lawyers The Won’s regime has hired to contest elections in all 50 states.

I don’t think this county has a clue of what time it is, or where we have arrived.

Everyone is putting their faith in a man, a party and a Cook County election process gone national.

The media and the polls are doing exactly what it does for the Machine that runs Chicago. Add half the population on welfare; most blacks on Obama’s plantation; a culture that is immersed in abortion, sexual sin and murder and disregard or openly boo God - and an avowed Marxist who was voted into power by the same - hellbent on ‘transforming’ us by ignoring the rule of law and reinterpreting the Constitution to suit his fancy.

The math here is not that hard.

And yes, of course the media is going to try to shape the election and public opinion. It’s what Propaganda Officials do for Dear Leaders of Leftist regimes.

Lucky for them, a majority of this people no longer think - but emote.

That fact takes on still more relevance when you consider that going all the way back to 1992, the Republicans have won a plurality of the national presidential vote exactly once. That once-in-20-years moment came in 2004, when George W. Bush rode the post-9/11 wave of patriotic fervor to a very narrow victory over John Kerry.

This statement could easily be revised. how about:

That fact takes on still more relevance when you consider that going all the way back to 1968, the Democrats have won a plurality of the national presidential vote exactly twice. Those twice-in-40-years moments came in 1976 and 2008. Clinton didn’t get pluralties either time he won.

When your campaign pollster is forced to release an “OK, Nobody Panic!” memo, as Neil Newhouse did today, it’s never a good sign.

^ THIS ^

There's a technical term for the sad, inevitable tendency -- every four years, like clockwork -- applicable to the side in any presidential contest whose adherents are forced to chant, idiotically: "... donnnnnnnnn't belieeeeeeeeeve the polllllllllllllssssssssss... donnnnnnnnn't belieeeeeeeeeve the polllllllllllllssssssssss...," over and over and over again.

That term; losers.

Four years ago, Team McCain's sycophants were mumbling the same insistent, zombie drone, all the way up to Election Day. Just sayin'.

Romney isn’t winning because the media says he isn’t winning. Romney will win if his voters get mad and not discouraged.

A lot of people don’t think they need a job these days.
Those gov’t checks, ie, borrowed money, keep coming in.

Of course, that’ll stop and pretty soon.

Romney is only losing if you believe the polls...which by the way, are worthless. I don’t believe this election will even be close.

Rush said about the same thing .... predicting that the only polls not skewed for political effect will be the ones fabricated a few days before the election, when the pollsters will have to look to their reputations and start moving some numbers toward reality.

The percentage of Americans receiving a monthly check from the Government is rapidly approaching 50%.

Which doesn't mean anything unless it is welfare related, people on SS, or military pay, or military retirement, are the most conservative of voters.

TIPP Poll Past Performance

The TIPP Poll was the most accurate presidential poll having come in #1 in both the 2004 and 2008 Presidential elections. An article summarizing the results is available here. The official election results compiled by the Federal Election Commission for 2008 is available here and for 2004 is available here. Readers may note that some analysis of results and pollster performance ranking on the Internet are obsolete because they analyze accuracy based on election night results, which are significantly different from the final results when all votes were counted.

There is no doubt that government dependency is the Demonrats’ silver bullet. With it they nullify every argument against them. No wonder they having been expanding it for decades.

I’m hoping that the left leaning polls will suppress the ‘rat fraud and cheating efforts (since they think they have it in the bag anyway).

It is not going to get much better because Romney agreed to participate in debates hosted and moderated by leftist. They will pull out all the stops to make Romney look bad in the debates. I would bet that Obama will get a list of the questions a couple weeks ahead of time to help him rehearse. Romney should have never have agreed to do a debate moderated by the MSM.

Yup. It's Groundhog Year. We keep waking up to 2008, over and over again.

Liberal Democrat candidate hand-picked by the Ruling Class, and the 'toss-the-dogs-a-bone' Conservative running mate to hold the base while playing nice with the Marxist - because the Ruling Class says the election will be decided by 'moderates' who will vote for Obama anyway.

Judging from Mitt’s behavior, I’ve long thought perhaps he doesn’t want to win. When you compare his campaigning to Ryan’s it just doesn’t measure up in any category. Certainly not in fervor or passion. And Ryan, good as he is, can’t win on his own.

You got it. If you’re on the public teat, the only thing that matters is who is going to give you more. The recession doesn’t matter because you don’t plan on getting a job anyway.

The fact is, endless government is the only thing that threatens the real safety net.

That is the supreme irony. Obamanites on the dole will be voting against their own long-run interests.
