Al Gore at peace outside the arena
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | September 8, 2012 | Patrick Healy

Posted on 09/09/2012 3:51:18 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Al Gore lives alone now, in a 10,000-square-foot colonial in Nashville, where magnolia trees shade the house and geothermal wells buried beneath the driveway cool and heat its 20 rooms.

Some weeks Gore heads to San Francisco, where he has a luxury apartment at the St. Regis tower, to work on venture capital projects or visit his new girlfriend. And some nights he checks into the Regency in New York, where three of his children live.

At 64, even after accumulating more than $100 million in wealth, Gore races like a man making up for lost time: blog posts to write, business deals to close, a global climate to save.

Tipper Gore lives alone now, too, and at a gentler pace - the pace she wanted when the Gores separated in June 2010.

She divides her time between their $9 million seaside villa near Santa Barbara and her maternal family home in Arlington, Va., near her 89-year-old father. She, too, is in New York often and is also working (selling her photography through her website) and dating someone new.

The couple reunites a few times a year, most recently in June, for summer family vacations and Christmases in the Gore family seat of Carthage, Tenn.

They gather at the old farm and lake where Gore's father, a congressman and senator, had once dreamed about his son becoming president. Back then the Gores had the makings of a political dynasty, and the paterfamilias, Albert Gore Sr., certainly held that ambition.

But hard times happen. Reckonings occur. And dynasties require both continuity and a next generation. The four Gore children, having been raised in the hothouse of Washington, want nothing to do with it.

The oldest, Karenna Gore Schiff, an adviser to Gore during his 2000 presidential campaign, has struggled..

Al Gore may have 100 million dollars but his life has been reduced to a place of true failure in the eyes, I believe, of most people. I doubt that he has much respect even from his tribe..The left wing of the Democrat party.
Tipper, if so inclined, could probably tell the world a lot. I hope she has found peace for herself..Their children will always feel disturbed from what they have been through. As a Christian, I find the Al Gore story exceedingly sad.

It’s Bush’s fault Gore had PTSD and his children had nightmares.

These people really are too much!

Another joke, a bit more wistful and a bit closer to the bone, comes when people tell him that he would have governed differently than Bush. Gore usually replies, "You know what: I would have just made different mistakes."

It almost seems like he's glad he was never president. Now that he knows the challenges of W's 8 years, it's not hard to imagine why.

"..to work on venture capital projects.."

Curious how he can own all this property and have all this money for "venture capital projects" when he's never held a job that paid more than $200K a year (before taxes).

Money from speeches? I Googled it, couldn't really find anything where he was paid a lot for that. Maybe money from his docu-fiction "An incontinent truth"? Was that a huge hit or something? Looked that up on Wikipedia and said it earned $49 million at the box office, one of the highest grossing docu-fictions of all time.

Wow, so that explains it. What we got here is another Al Sharpton...Create phantom threats and profit off it. Meanwhile how many people so far have lost jobs because of this guy? And here he is a single guy living in a 20 room mansion. How green of him.

The Gores need Christ. They have many millions of dollars but their lives are pagan and empty.

I can’t believe I didn’t know he and Tipper were separated in 2010. It’s not like I’ve been living completely under a rock, but I must have just missed that tidbit.

I had to ask myself, why are they publishing this article now? Is someone in the family planning to run for office? There is always a purpose to a piece like this.

He has a new book on global economics and politics coming out early next year — and Obama (if he wins) will have more flexibility to impose more rules and regulations through the EPA - so Gore’s training environmental activists (just held a conf. in San Francisco last week for 1000 trainees).

Gore, Sr bought the Carthage TN farm at advice of communist Armand Hammer
after his occidental Petrol company did the geology of TN and found the only rare earth elements in Tn under the future Gore farm, then Hammer paid Gore thousands a year for the mineral lease and then opened the mine after wards.

It is good to be king.

Gak....if you can get through page 2 of this gooey nonsense without upchucking, you need to eat something. I thought it was written by a teenage girl, but instead it is by Patrick Healey, who must be light in the loafers.

Was surprised to see Tipper on HGTV showing off her photography. She’ll probably get her own show now.

I have to say, me too. I must have known, but forgotten it, that is how irrelevant he has become as his scam machine has raked in money for him.

Did Tipper leave him because of this?
