WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama, picking up support following the Democratic National Convention, widened his narrow lead over Republican U.S. presidential challenger Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Saturday.
The latest daily tracking poll showed Obama, a Democrat, with a lead of 4 percentage points over Romney. Forty-seven percent of 1,457 likely voters surveyed online over the previous four days said they would vote for Obama if the November 6 elections were held today, compared with 43 percent for Romney.
"The bump is actually happening. I know there was some debate whether it would happen... but it's here," said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark, referring to the "bounce" in support that many presidential candidates enjoy after nominating conventions.
Obama had leapfrogged Romney in the daily tracking poll on Friday with a lead of 46 percent to 44 percent.

I think it has something to do with the time it takes to clear your cookies in order to vote again.
So now all three tracking polls have Obama up.
Reuters O +4
Gallup O+4
Rasmussen O+2
Team Romney is mailing it in, IMO.
They probably took this poll among delegates leaving the DNC convention.
No, it says likely voters.
I wouldn’t be too surprised if they got a short term bounce out of their convention. It often happens but we’ve got two months between now and the election and that bounce will wear off well before then.
Uh... in the second sentence it says “ likely voters “ plain as day.
Yeah-and Scott Walker was tied in the recall vote.
And all those 2010 Tea Party voters have disappeared.
Don’t freak out, folks. The Media (pollsters) need a horse race for their ratings (billing). They’re working on their calculus, trying to figure out exactly what numbers they need to energize the RATs without lulling them into complacency (BamBam +) or demoralizing them (BamBam-). It’s a pretty narrow window ‘cause they know we’re coming out, no matter what.
Keep your powder dry and vote on Nov. 6th.
This is the convention bounce period so it isn’t surprising.
Despite jobs data? The poll covered Tuesday through Friday. The jobs data came out on Friday and most people didn’t hear about it until that evening or today.
So now all three tracking polls have Obama up.
Yep, just like they had Carter up by 10 in October of 1980.
I wonder where Zogby and his special sauce is. Haven't heard squat from him.
I can see November from my lanai.

The parasites appear to be voting to kill their host. It’s time to get serious about prepping. I pray I’m wrong, but the end may be near.
Obama's actual approvals are around 47%. He can't win an election with numbers like that.
The Paul Simon song, "Slip slidin' away," comes to mind when I think of Obama.
Obama is not going to win!
...but these pollsters sure are accomplishing their goal of demoralizing Republican voters.
Romney will win by 4 to 6 points.
He can if mitt's approvals are even lower. GOPe pushed another lame-o. Too bad. Newt would have won. The GOPe doesn't want to win. Instead it wants Hollywood's pretty people and Soros to like them.
