**SNIP**

On the menu: thousands of pounds of pecan-fried chicken, baked orzo, fresh crudités, three-bean bake, fresh-cut fruit and something called short rib cobbler.

And that’s only a partial list.

**SNIP**

Sixty-five thousand people holding stadium credentials were told they could no longer attend and the Panthers were left with nearly 8,000 pounds of unneeded food.

Panthers spokesman Riley Fields said the more traditional vendor food (chips, hot dogs, burgers) will keep in freezers for upcoming games, but catered items for VIP suites had to be given away.

I hope some homeless guy gets sick on the leftovers and sues the DNC for food poisoning.

First of all, it was entirely unclear if the DNC paid for the donated food or if they stuck it to the vendors. Second, they didn’t say if they paid for the stadium or a cancellation fee. Third, I noticed that all of the MSM networks dropped all weather reports for the southeast Wednesday through Friday. Couldn’t find a single MSM news program that delineated the severe thunder storms, tornadoes or hurricanes that were to strike Charlotte.

It looks like every vendor involved with the Democratic National Convention lost money. Also, I bet those vendors don’t vote for Obama now. If they run a convention that poorly, it’s no wonder they can’t run the country.

In most places that I am aware of, it is against the law to give away the leftover food once it has been out.

Restaurants will get fined up the whazoo for giving away leftovers. And I don’t mean stuff left of people’s plates.

If they had that sort of food and did indeed give it away, they violated multiple laws, I’d be willing to bet.

I hope the Stadium got paid cash up front. Some venues haven’t yet been paid for events held in 2008.

Every one around here (Rock Hill SC, just south of Charlotte) knew it was going to be a bust when the DNC cancelled hundreds of room reservations here in the last 10 days

My question is did the vendors get paid or were they stiffed?

That is a good sign; sounds like a lot of Dems that will be “down the ticket” from The Sultan don’t want to be associated with him.

Staying just south of Charlotte, and the conversation turned to the DNC hotel bookings with the hotel manager.

Seemed that one hotel (Hampton Inn at the airport?) was asking $1000 per night during the convention. When no one booked any rooms at that rate, they dropped the rate to “only $649” and actually sold a couple of rooms.

Looks like the convention crowd stayed in Charlotte or in SC. Most of the folks in Statesville just laughed at the whole insane mess. Not that they ever venture up into Charlotte much ...
