It seems you haven’t taken the time to read EXACTLY what Akin said:
“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, thats really rare. If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But lets assume that maybe that didnt work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”
Note that he was saying that DOCTORS have said that pregnancies resulting from violent rape (as opposed to fake claims of rape) are RARE.
That is TRUE, Jonty30. For decades a variety of doctors have said that.
You said that Akin said that “raped women dont get pregnant.” No, that is a lie. Akin said that doctors have said that pregnancies resulting from violent rape are RARE.
Get your facts straight before you start misrepresenting a conservative republican.
It doesn't matter politically what the exact words are. The way the public will understand them is that Akin believes a woman will not get pregnant if she is violently raped. He may be correctly citing someone else, but that doesn't matter. He chose to cite that source as credible in the context of the question. It was a stupid thing to say when being baited by reporter.
Even so, my point is that he was stupid for having commented on the subject in the first place. His comments have simply made it more difficult for Jim to win his seat. He has made it more difficult for conservatives to win their seats.
He didn’t abide by the adage about not giving the supporters of your opponent a reason to come out and vote for him.
I am personally sick and tired of conservative politicians who seem to be purposefully aware that there are things you don’t say, because they honestly cost elections.
