While top military leaders publicly bash a former Navy SEAL for his book about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, his foxhole comrades convey their displeasure in a more subtle way. From now on, rogue author Matt Bissonnette will be ostracized by the fraternity. No invitations will be sent to annual events for retired and active SEALs who keep the secretive community of special warriors a closely knit band of brothers, former Navy officers told The Washington Times. Don't look for Mr. Bissonnette at any sanctioned SEAL reunions or memorial events, including those at his old unit, the low-profile Naval Special Warfare Development Group, known better as SEAL Team 6. "The guys who run their mouths are typically not invited back to these things," a retired senior Navy officer familiar with the SEAL culture told The Times. "These guys are not really welcomed in many places in the 'spec' war community. The entire SEAL community has made these guys unwelcomed at their gatherings." The officer asked not to be named because he maintains contacts with the special operations, or "spec," community. "The 'Dev Gru' guys are giving him the cold shoulder," said a second senior retired officer also with ties to the community, referring to a nickname for SEAL Team 6. "They're not going to buy the book. Most of the guys are pissed off [by] the fact that he would disclose the operation." A code of silence They say Mr. Bissonnette, who this week launched "No Easy Day," his insider account of the bin Laden operation, violated the basic SEAL creed. It states: "I do not advertise the nature of my work, nor seek recognition for my actions. I voluntarily accept the inherent hazards of my profession, placing the welfare and security of others before my own."

While I respect the Code of Silence, I feel like the author is doing the right thing by setting the record straight.
The current White House occupant has lied about, leaked and politicized the killing of Bin Laden so that he can continue holding on to power, which presents a great danger to the Spec Ops community and the country as a whole.
Is there any doubt that Obama would have thrown them all under the bus had the raid gone south. Possibly turned them over to the Pakistanis or charged them with a crime?
The SEALS are merely tools for Obama to advance his agenda.
This author has risked a lot to set the record straight. He faces possible criminal charges, and he has been shunned from the brotherhood that he holds dear. In my mind, he is still serving his country.
The Code of Silence is great, except when it does great a disservice to the country.
The author is a courageous patriot. God bless him.
I don’t believe this article because, code of silence or no, I cannot believe most of his fellow SEALs do not feel exactly the same way he does about The Won.
All this is ONLY because of who is in the WH.
Once he’s gone, it should be different.........
When they similarly ostracize blabber-mouth Obama for compromising the actionable intel and security of the forces in order to get glory..... then I will think about giving their complaints about the “No Easy Day” author credibility.
Until then.... go cry me a river, guys. The greatest enemy this country faces is the one you call Commander-in-Chief, even though he is a foreign enemy combatant. He’s done everything in his power to destroy this country and the people who legitimately protect her. I hate it that the voters of this country and the entire system screwed you and the whole country by electing this steaming pile of excrement. Puts you in a place where the only way to honor your vow is to violate your contract. So which means more, a vow or a contract?
I think I've also figured out why Barry and his toadies at the Pentagon are so upset about this book.
1. People are going to find out that Obama didn't kill Osama as Rimshot Joe Biden claims he did. The SEALs killed Osama.
2. This book will cause a lot of people to "Google" 9-11-01 to find out what happened that day that got the author and his SEAL buddies so fired up.
I agree
Well said.
I would advise any young man considering military service to reconsider until we have more admirable political leaders.
I could never endorse working for the Obama/Panetta DOD.
“I dont believe this article because, code of silence or no, I cannot believe most of his fellow SEALs do not feel exactly the same way he does about The Won.”
I agree with all the way!!!!
BTW: This book is still #1 in “Books” at Amazon. I noticed in Walmart yesterday that it is doing well there also. The ostriches may not be buying it but somebody is.
‘Obama would have thrown them all under the bus’
I am not saying Obama threw them under the bus, but it appears some did a few months later when the helicopter was shot down.
> Matt Bissonnette will be ostracized by the fraternity.
Excellent! The author’s intentions be damned, he will get people killed by these disclosures.
I agree completely. This doesn't pass the smell test.
The author is a courageous patriot. God bless him.
Would you be saying this had someone wrote a book about Bush’s Iraq War or something negative and was a military member. No you would be critizing it big time. That is the part I hate with regards to politics.
I happen to agree with you. If they are mistreating their fellow SEAL that tells me about them not him. I have bought the book and plan on reading it this weekend
“From now on, rogue author Matt Bissonnette will be ostracized by the fraternity.”
This guy will never have to buy another beer in his lifetime. He might be ostracized by some of the Brass, but the guys who did the job did it as a Team. That doesn’t go away.
Weigh in on this, Mr. Bracken?
I would certainly buy the author a beer.
