UPDATED The Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation has joined forces with the Calguns Foundation in a fund-raising effort supporting the production of a pro-gun documentary called Assaulted Civil Rights Under Fire.
The documentary is a project by Kris Koenig of Chico, Cal., and it concentrates on the erosion of gun rights in the Golden State. However, the story could apply to anywhere that the gun prohibition lobby has relentlessly chipped away at the Second Amendment. It is being done by Dead Patriot Films.
According to SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, the plan is to raise at least $65,000 to finance the project, and then have it launched on public television in southern Oregon. From there, the program could wind up circulating across PBS to other regions, including Washington State, where far too many gun control proponents by no small coincidence, many who have migrated here from somewhere else, including California want the Evergreen State to regulate firearms as they do in California.
As of late Thursday, more than $8,300 had been pledged or raised, according to the KickStarter website. The project has 57 backers and the fund raising effort will apparently continue for another 28 days.
According to a Koenig press release, The film takes a critical look at the original intent of the current California guns laws in contrast with crime and murder statistics before and since their implementation; and compares these laws to those of the adjacent states. Story threads also look at the myriad of concealed carry permitting processes across the state to illustrate that not all residents are treated equal.
