"The zombies are coming!" the Homeland Security Department says.
Tongue firmly in cheek, the government urged citizens Thursday to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, part of a public health campaign to encourage better preparation for genuine disasters and emergencies. The theory: If you're prepared for a zombie attack, the same preparations will help during a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake or terrorist attack.

FTA:
A few of the government's suggestions tracked closely with some of the 33 rules for dealing with zombies popularized in the 2009 movie "Zombieland," which included "always carry a change of underwear" and "when in doubt, know your way out." Somehow I doubt Rule #2 is in the gummint version?

Can only say, that personally; trust nothing from an 'Obama' government MO; no matter the innocence of those involved. There are viruses; and there are viral ideologies; as there are toxic substances and also; toxic ideas and energies. We can allow that we need to protect ourselves from not only 'germs' - and 'germ warfare'; but from propaganda. One is fast acting; the other, requires more time; but in the end; we want neither impacting us.
In any event; the metaphors overlap; 'come into play'; if only synchronistically; whereby the methodologies invited to cope; bear resemblance to one another.
IMHO; consciously; or 'unconsciously'; a citizenry IS being shaped; for 'whatever'.
Sort of goes to the 'as above; so below. . .or macro and micro synchronizations as 'life unfolds'.
As of now; there is an 'Armageddon' around every corner - viral; ideological; political; economic; religious - and not just nation-wide; but world-wide. A general assault on one's senses; for sure; and they do pose a 'challenge' to overcome. These all fit, as well a 'zombie' metaphor with their possible scenarios.

Yeah, put me on your ping list - I’ve got to learn as much as possible about MUY’s, uh, errr, zombies - yeah, ZOMBIES, that’s the ticket - as possible. Thanks.

Sometimes, late at night, after a cocktail, I ponder if the government knows something they feel they cannot tell the public, but still try to give some a fighting cvhance for survival beyond what the government is quietly preparing for the elites to survive, complete with millions of rounds of ammo for defensive positions in already built bunkers.

From ZeroHedge:
"One of the primary purposes of a government, any government, is to sustain itself. In its final hours it will do almost anything possible for its self-preservation."
Has not history borne this out? How many times have we seen dying governments lie to, cheat, steal from, incarcerate, force into unwanted wars and even slaughter those who the government was formed to protect in order to continue even one more day.

I like this. It energizes the people who never think about preparedness. It makes sense, and I think whoever thought it up should get a big raise.

I read an article, it might have been cracked.com, that vampires are what conservatives think liberals are (forever young, lustful but sterile, soul-less, suck the life out of the productive) while zombies are what liberals think conservatives are (mindless hordes that reproduce but little else, seeking to pull down and convert others).

It's a good concept. People need to find things interesting and amusing before they will truly pay attention.
If it makes just a few hundred thousand take steps to prepare for a major problem then it has done very well.

What is the most efficient way to do this? Firearms and a large cache of ammo. Not dehydrated food or a Berkey water filter, but the venerable Boom Stick.
As much as I dislike Max Brooks's liberal leanings, I completely agree with his statement:
"While you are running, shooting, reloading, dodging and shooting, you will be losing water. YOU NEED TO KEEP HYDRATED!"
You should watch this:
Max Brooks's seminar, "How to survive the zombie apocalypse."And if you liked that, get the audiobook, "World War Z."
