Catholic Nun & DNC Speaker Simone Campbell on Abortion: ‘That’s Beyond My Pay Grade’
the weekly Standard ^ | 9/5/12 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 09/06/2012 4:16:08 AM PDT by Clint N. Suhks

Charlotte Sister Simone Campbell is a Catholic nun and liberal activist who has earned a lot of media coverage this year for criticizing the Paul Ryan budget while riding around the country on a bus. Tonight at the Democratic National Convention, Campbell will be speaking from the podium against the Ryan budget.

But how does Campbell, a Catholic who says she believes abortion is the taking of an innocent life, weigh her budget concerns against her opposition to abortion? It turns out there’s not a dilemma because, as Campbell told me this afternoon at the Charlotte Convention Center, she doesn’t know if she supports laws protecting the lives of unborn children.

TWS: On the legal question, do you think there should be penalties against abortion doctors? I mean, should it be illegal to perform abortions?

CAMPBELL: That’s beyond my pay grade. I don’t know.

“The fact is my vast preference is that all women would have the support to carry their babies to term,” Campbell continued. “One of the things I find so horrifying in the Romney-Ryan budget is that they want to take those supports away. And then they claim they’re pro-life. That just drives me nuts!”

So Campbell knows that the Romney-Ryan budget is "horrifying" because it spends less on social welfare programs than Obama, but she's agnostic about passing laws to stop abortions.

If Libtards didn't have double standards they'd have none at all.

This “nun” is pro-abortion. She doesn’t want to come right out and say it. She pretends to be pro-life when she says that she prefers that woman have all the support they need to carry their babies to term. She is lieing. She realy wants woman to abort those babies.

What everybody misses is that the nun needs to learn that jealousy, envy, covetousness and theft are sins. Thou shall not covet other people’s wealth. The Dem welfare schemes are as sinful as the abortion stuff.

should it be illegal to perform abortions? CAMPBELL: That’s beyond my pay grade. I don’t know.

OK Ms nun wannabe, let's try this:
Should God smite faggot-loving baby-killers with lightning bolts?

"That’s beyond my pay grade. I don’t know"

The next obvious question should have been: "So, if abortion were outlawed you'd really have no reason to object, correct?

I have a feeling Somebody above her bishop will have the last word with her.

Good points. I would add if the interviewer had any sand he should have made her state which parts of Ryan’s budget takes those “supports” away.

This “sister” needs a good talking-to from her Bishop, ASAP!

What would be the point?

We all...at least I...regularly act at cross purposes to our...my...faith. This also applies to my best understanding of human self-interest espoused by philosophers from Aristotle to Sowell.

On my worst day I never tried to argue that such was "OK."

The day a once-Catholic nun talks around fundamental precepts of morality in her own code, it's not OK for the rest of us to call her a Catholic nun. Humans lie to themselves all the time. The rest of us don't have to go along.

Wouldn't do any good. I doubt she's listened to anyone in her hierarchy since the wild and wacky days of Vatican II.

Maybe I am unclear on the concept of what a Catholic nun is, but it seems to me that this woman has severed any relationship she had with that job description by taking that position.

Is it possible to be a Catholic nun and not believe in the sanctity of life? Shouldn’t she refer to herself as an ex-nun?

Amazing how if the same nun stood up at a Republican convention promoting turning scripture into law, the Left would froth at the mouth.

She is no more a Nun than I am.

She is using the term Nun because it serves her politically feminist agenda and makes her stand out from the other Dykes with the same agenda.

Take it from me, you get it.

Often, people like to think it’s very complicated, but Catholicism never is.

She is outside of the Church.

Funny, that’s just what Obama said. I these nuns are following the Magisterium of Obama left wing Marxist cult rather than the Magisterium of the Catholic Church...

I never hear any Christian preachers, pastors or activist take a stand against covetousness, envy, jealousy and theft inherent in liberal politics. It is so much easier to take a stand against sins that you and your constituents don’t commit. But until these abominations are addressed the Dems will continue to be a force and no matter who winds election the socialist state will advance.
Also keep in mind that looking to the state to meet your needs and solve your problems is putting the state in the place of God. Pure idolatry.

That’s the scary part...this woman used Obama’s words. (I won’t call her a nun.)

She’s currently under investigation by the Vatican for not following Church doctrine. Her and everyone of those
pro-abortion, homo-loving hypocrites that ride around on that bus should be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.
