CHARLOTTE, N.C. First lady Michelle Obama got rave reviews for the custom-made Tracy Reese pink and copper dress she wore while giving a tribute to her husband at the Democratic National Convention.
The sleeveless dress showed off Mrs. Obama's famously toned arms and the length modestly skirted her knees. She paired the dress with pink pumps from J. Crew and her fingernails were painted a trendy blue-gray.

So, the national debt hit $16 Trillion yesterday, unemployment has been above 8% for close to 4 years, the Democrats refuse to pass a budget, and Obama has no plans to address any of these outrages. Meanwhile, the mainstream media thinks the fabulousness of Michelle Obama’s dress is newsworthy!
looks like a suicide boob belt.
Is that what they’re raving about? It makes her look flat-chested, her shoulders look like a linebacker’s, and her hips look big. I think it’s quite unflattering on her. But let’s face it; she could wear a potato sack and the media would swoon.
Or as Carol Burnett said in a Gone with the Wind sketch on her show...
“I saw it in the window and just could not resist...” or something similar...
She purposely chose Reese: AA, American-made and very affordable price points to contrast w/Ann R’s de la Renta w/a starting price of over $2k. Even the shoes are J. Crew and not that extravagant as fashion goes.
We may not like her, but honestly, she looked as good as possible and she scored PR points against Ann Romney. The nail polish is likewise trendy, even for 45-50-year-olds. I see those colors even out here in the boonies and sometime on the toenails of older women.
I don’t like the zer0s. I hate the adoration of political wives. But, I like Tracy Reese’s designs and this one looked good on Michelle, as did her wig. Come on, ladies: if you saw something similar for $150 on sale at Neiman Marcus, you’d think it was great. That is where Reese sells and that is her sale price point. Regularly $250-$450, which is not bad for a gala. Custom was likely not that much more as the PR was priceless.
I do agree that there is way too much sleevelessness out there. We older women really appreciate something to cover the bingo wings, but for those who work for toned triceps, why not show them off?
‘_____like what a 14-15 year old would wear.’
OOps - didn’t read all the posts - -
I did watch, and saw the dress. That’s why I watched - wondering if she was going to re-cycle the black widow spider dress from 2008 - -
Actually, I thought the hair, dress - and shoes - were beautiful - and the dress moved well when Mrs. Obigmouthmama walked/galumped.
But it is about being inappropriate/appropriate for the occasion, and showing arm pits.
Have brides stopped wearing strapless and showing arm pits???
Thought that might stop when we saw Kate’s wedding dress.
“These are my husband’s Martian friends they’re keeping an eye on America . . “
Those microphones sure ‘fool the eye.’
L O L!!!! Watch out what you stand behind, and in front of.
Too many family photos with telephone poles and trees coming out of the heads of the subjects!
Having too much fun on this thread, but running off to an appt. - -
Thanks for a good laugh
I never knew she had fangs. Check out her teeth.
That was custom made? Then, why, in heaven’s name was her bra flab hanging over the edges?
If I ever had to talk with her, I’d have trouble deciding which eye to look at.
Does she EVER cover her arms?
It was a very pretty dress and would have been perfect IF she had worn a nice little matching jacket.
Good grief. Did the author manage to sniff MO's armpits to see what kind of deodorant she was or wasn't wearing?
I liked the dress but I think it should have been wider
on the top otherwise it seemed like it was too small for her frame. She has a wide frame

Apparently they’re rooting through higher-end dumpsters these days.
She took a page out of Prince Phillips play book and skipped putting on her knickers.
LOL!! I am SO stealing that line to use in real life.
