Virgil Goode makes presidential ballot in Virginia
The Washington Post ^ | September 4, 2012 | Ben Pershing

Former congressman Virgil Goode Jr. has qualified for the presidential ballot in Virginia, the State Board of Elections ruled Tuesday, adding a potential obstacle to Republican Mitt Romney’s hopes of winning the pivotal state.

The state Republican party has already challenged the eligibility of Goode, who is the Constitution Party’s nominee, and could still get him knocked off the ballot.

AuH2ORepublican:

We should also not subsidize the obviously piss poor (Mittler) as the enemy of BOTH the good and the perfect just because he MAY be a sliver better than Obozo which is a far lower standard than any to which pro-lifers should ever stoop. That's like favoring Hitler over Stalin because Hitler MAY have allowed some vestigial "free enterprise" (however heavily regulated but at least he did not mass murder the Kulaks for being prosperous). What mad house are we living in when otherwise sensible people would make or accept such arguments???

BTW, "We" knew George W. Bush. He was 80% a friend of ours.... While Dubya was not perfect, he deserves a better fate than being used on behalf of Mittler who would not be worth Dubya pissing on his grave. And, yes, Dubya has endorsed Mittler which does not matter in the slightest to the moral responsibilities of voters NOT to vote for junkyard pro-aborts and two-faced liars like Mittler OR Obozo.

I normally agree with your posts and I look forward to your regaining your customary common sense when the fever has passed.

God bless you and yours!

the better argument, in my opinion, is more like the following:
In CT-5 we have NARAL GOP Roraback vs. NARAL Dem Esty. If Roraback wins, it is a worse outcome.
1. because then the NARALs would have taken over both parties, instead of only one.
2. it encourages the scumbags to do more of the same in other districts.
3. it disables the pro-life opposition from winning the seat in future elections. Very unlikely to recruit a solid pro-life DEM to run against Roraback and do it effectively.

Now, I would not want to argue in favor of supporting Esty:
1. it would fall on deaf ears.
2. Some would believe that supporting an Esty is intrinsically evil and cannot ever be justified.

Better that Esty wins, so support the pro-life 3rd party guy this year. If Roraback were 78-years old, might be different. If we had term limits, different story.

Getting back to Romney, the flaw in the pro-MITT argument is that his election:
1. Disables pro-lifers regarding 2016. Might be different if Mitt were term-limited to one term.
2. Starts a Romney dynasty with 5 sons.
3. Romney’s influence on ‘16 and also ‘20 election. And beyond.

The effects of a Romney election on future elections and the future of the party are real, imminent, reasonable and not based on wild speculation.

Philosophical reading would include “double effect”, “prudence” and “sound judgment”. The lesser of 2 evils argument is poor scholarship.

Not just because I agree with him but for his qualities of quiet, humble, intellect and wisdom, I would tend always to side with Bob Muckle's views and particularly when I am not an up close witness to what is going on on the ground. All of the 5th District candidates arose after I left the state. As you describe Bernier, I don't think I would like him and if I thought that, like Mittler's habits of a lifetime, he was opportunistically lying on the life issues, I would look forward to dancing or whatever on his grave.

Lenny is a good friend but not always infallible. It is good that he supported Greenberg. Family Institute may be good guys. I would not know since, although they existed before I left, they were not on my personal radar. If CRTL Corp. favored Bernier after he issued what appears to be an anti-semitic attack on Greenberg, I don't think that would have happened if I were at such a meeting as a board member and if it did I would resign. He appears to have been a very pro-life candidate no matter how many times he has married (on which I understand Jews ti have standards that vary substantially from the Vatican as is certainly their right. I respect Joe Lieberman who is on marriage #3. He is a verrry observant Jew. He has also been married to wife #3 Hadassah for about 30 years or more. I abhor divorce but I have enough of a challenge trying to be Catholic without trying to control the religious behavior of folks of other faiths.

OTOH, if Mittler wants to run as the candidate of my party, I want to hold him POLITICALLY accountable on pro-life and I will. It is a matter of public policy and natural law no matter what the faith of a candidate may be. Additionally, I would observe that Mittler is a disgrace to his own faith by comparison to every Mormon I have ever known.

As to New Hampshire, both Bass and his father ALWAYS deserved defeat. Giuda looks like a champion. Also Ovid LaMontaigne for governor.

Best if Roraback and Esty had a joint plane crash (accidental of course).

Massachusetts Citizens for Life some of whose leaders I have represented have been a disappointment of late and even took money from Mittler. If Bill Cotter or Phil Lawlor assured me I am wrong about them I would change my mind but, holy as they are, they are not political operatives although Bill Cotter, without seeking office, can be a superstar at human diplomacy.

God bless!

If I was gonna “vote my conscience” for a minor candidate it certainly would not be Goode. I wouldn’t even want him for the Republican nominee even over Glove since Obama would crush him.

Johnson is no good either. He may be well qualified, unlike Virg, but has many unfortunate positions.

If there was actually a somewhat qualified, clean conservative on any minor party line maybe I’d be tempted.

Most FR Goode backers I know of are people who wouldn’t vote Romney even if he and Obama were the only names on the ballot. I hope that goes for Goode voters in general, it would make no difference if they vote Goode in lieu of not voting at all. I suspect there might be some fans in his old congressional district though who would vote Romney without him on the ballot.

Esty has one other advantage. She is dumb as a bag of hammers. Representing Cheshire for ONE term in the General Assembly during which the Pettit family rapes/slaughter were perpetrated by Joshua Komisarchevsky and Steven Hayes, Dumbocrat Esty still advocated an end to the death penalty. That was even after Senator Edith Prague (Leftist Lunatic-Mansfield) took a vacation from her 30-year crusade to end the death penalty and, though always previously ladylike, urged execution of the Cheshire Two by hanging them from utility poles by piano wire wrapped around their respective gentalia. Prague recovered her lunacy in time to vote in the current term (successfully) to end the death penalty. OTOH, Prague lives far from Cheshire. Esty represents Cheshire and had her dimwit derriere handed to her in the next election. She is also an Emily's List candidate but Roraback should not get a pass by being somewhat male.

Also your link at another post (#131?) to State GOP Chairman Jerry The Unprincipled Brainless Idiot LaBriola, Jr., humiliating himself and the party by publicly imagining that conservatives, especially social conservatives, won't punish Roraback for being Roraback need not be taken seriously. He will plod on for a few more fruitless years and then evaporate into richly deserved irrelevance.

I voted Topinka for Governor and held back the bile.

In 2010 I voted for the Libertarian running against her for Comptroller.

This Virgil Goode a-hole has ZERO chance of becoming president. He is doing this purely out of spite for the VA GOP. It amazes me how people can't see through this BS.

If you people hate Romney that much, why not just stay home and not give the pr*ck the satisfaction of your vote.

And I would say anyone who knowingly wants to hand 4 more years to obama out of a temper tantrum is a sadist and near clinical psychosis.

It sickens me much more to see Obozo relected and see this country not be able to rebound. Those of you who want to commit suicide ought to just go and do it to yourselves and not harm anyone else.

No one thinks Romney is the second coming of Reagan. But he doesn't hate the US (unlike Obama).

The economy stands to improve dramatically if Romney is elected because he isn't going to wage the full scale war on the private sector that Obama and his cronies have. Look at the assortment of socialists, communists, maoists and other far-leftists Obama has put in high places of government. Are you seriously telling me Romney is going to act just as badly as that?

You purists are just as dense as the idiots over at the DNC screaming for their free birth control. Grow up.

Spare us your childish dreams of some gotterdammerung between you and 0bama’s minions. Your not going to die holding a rifle, you’ll probably pass away in some decrepit 0bamacare hospital dying in your own filth b/c a death panel ruled you were a lost cause. But, hey, at least you can say that you made a difference by voting for goode.

Ouch! That has to leave a mark. It hits home though. All the 'principled' voting in the world will coutn for bupkis if Obama gets in and embeds socialized medicine like a tapeworm in our body politic. Once in, it will take the death of the host to kill the parasite off. it will never happen. Obama's second term means his project will be completed and we end up a Euro-socialist state.

Romney is a fake conservative and a closet socialist, but Virgil Goode - a former Democrat who used to take his marching orders from Dick Gephart - is the real conservative!

Anyone following VA politics knows that Goode is a crybaby who is throwing a temper tantrum over losing his seat in 2008 to little Tommy Perrillo. He is a fraud.
