Charlotte, North Carolina - Democrats are poised to avoid the danger of President Barack Obama accepting his partys nomination before a partially-empty stadium by shifting his speech to an indoor arena and citing severe weather. The Obama campaign have been working desperately to ensure that the 74,000-seater Bank of America stadium in Charlotte would be filled. Buses for students from across North Carolina and even members of black churches in neighboring South Carolina have been arranged. Images of rows of empty seats at the stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, as Obama speaks on Thursday night would be politically disastrous

“Give Sarah Palin’s fans 24 hour notice, let alone the months that the Dems had, and the 74,000 seats would all be filled”
Wow, you are sooo right....I wish Sarah had thought of doing that at some nearby venue on the same night as the speech. Although the media would have simply ignored it.
Rush mentioned that during the first hour of his show today.
CHARLOTTE THURSDAY |
85 | 69 | Partly Cloudy |
Chance of rain: 20% |
Wind: SSW at 7 mph |
Well...as a meteorologist...I think its actually a good reason. Chances are better than 20% for rainshowers/thunderstorms...more like 30-40.
However, it shows lack of planning and consideration for the weather (sort of like what the GOP did putting the convention in Tampa...). Why run the risk of having a rain-out? It's summer and tstms happen in the southeast.
Of course...I'm sure they are happy to solve their seat problem too.
They are busing people in from all over the area..Black churches and out of bars as far away as Alanta.
Tickets are free and they will give two at a time if you guarantee to use both of them.
Pretty desperate!!
They can’t even give away tickets to the slimeball’s big acceptance football spike. ‘Couldn’t happen to a more deserving jerk.
You spelled that wrong, it’s Perps :)
So if no other people from anywhere else in the country attended the speech
***
Flying them in at the last minute would be insanely expensive.
What happens to all those tickets they’d given out? How do they decide who gets in and who gets the shaft?
The point is SHE CAN. Just rent an open field, set up a podium, and issue just one press announcement with just 1 day’s notice - and she’ll have 100,000 people there.
...especially if the announcement includes “bring your own chair”.
And, apparently, the NJ Rats sent something out to their members with Obama’s first name misspelled. Love it!
Why would they pay 3.5 months’ rent for a one-day use?
Democrats set to move Obama's big speech from 74,000-seater outdoor stadium to Charlotte Starbucks...
Before you know it he'll be reduced to working casinos and county fairs...
“So what about the thousands of people they’re busing in to fill the big stadium? (see thread) “
No, that’s to fill up THIS stadium
THIS IS AWESOME!!!! :D
Not really sure. I think it has something to do with security preparations.
HA!
Funny guy.
