“New York transplants are the problem...”

I grew up in western NY. I escaped the bad Buffalo economy in 1985 after attending SUNY colleges.
However, you are correct they are a big part of the problem. Most are retirees.

I know a couple that moved to southwestern NH from Long Island. They bought a house twice the size as their former home for half the price. For them the property taxes were cheap. For most others though our property taxes are twice what they formerly paid. That is tough if you are on a fixed income. What they do not calculate is how much they save on income and sales tax. The liberals have been pushing for an income tax in NH since the 1980’s.

Also, Maryland, Pa, CT and RI folks keep moving here. We have a much lower unemployment rate(5%) than all of the surrounding states. RI is the worst. Therefore, these folks are moving to NH to get jobs.

I should have specified that suburban NYC transplants are the problem...I have friends upstate, and they HATE being mistaken for the denizens of ‘the city’, which is the reason the entire state is in an economic malaise. I can use that word now that the DNC has ‘resurrected’ Jimmy Carter. :-)
