Things got better after the revolutions of 1848 and the population was 5% of the Jewish faith
====
But the immediate and present reasons given by the a-s party is that after WWI when there was a brief communist rule in Hungary, the revolutionary leaders were all (except 1) of Jewish origin (note: origin, most were converts or athiests) like the leader Bela Kun (Bela Kohen) -- sufficient fodder for anti-semites.
during the communist rule from 1945 there were others of Jewish background (but not, I repeat NOT practising Jews) -- like Erno Gero (the head of state in the 50s) and Peter Gabor (head of the secret police). Let me repeat -- these were of Jewish background only, were NOT practising Jews and might be classified as anti-semitic themselves, but most people don't care for finer details and would use this as a stick.
Now they are just 0.5% of the total population but many people must have some Jewish blood in them (you can't have a large population living side by side without some dissemination) so the entire anti-semitism to me seems illogical.
During the meeting, Szegedi apologized for any statements which may have offended the Jewish community, and vowed to visit Auschwitz to pay his respects.
What I see here is a politician now cast out by his political base and now seeking to build a new base. Political survivalism.
I dont see much hope for him.
“anti-Semitic party in Hungary”
Hmmm, so in other words they have Democrats there as well.
Whoops! Don't you hate when that happens?....
Ironically, the person most responsible for the deportations and deaths of Hungarian Jews during the Nazi occupation was a Jew, Erich Kastner, a so-called leader of the Jewish community. Kastner and other Jewish leaders were warned about what really awaited the Jews at the exterminatation camps by two heroic escapees from Auschwitz. Kastner used the information to get his own family and a select group out of Hungary, and concealed the information from the rest of the population, allowing hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews to go blindly into being slaughtered.
Kastner went to live in Israel, where he was assassinated for his heinous crimes in Tel Aviv in the mid 1950s.
I did not know that
shades of Hitler. History repeating itself.
This information changed my life and was the beginning of what I consider to be my radicalisation. The name of the escapee who wrote a book about this was Rudi Vreba. They should have renamed Tel Aviv after him.
This was what made me begin to see the inherent corruption in so-called leadership, and the way that true history has been suppressed.
The person most responsible for the deportations and deaths of Hungarian Jews during the Nazi occupation was Adolf Hitler, whose grandfather, so it is said, was Jewish.
Really? And if an armed thug is on their way to your house to kill you, and I know his intention and plan, and I inform the police and the mayor of your town with all the details, and they don’t give you the information so thatch you can be prepared, take action and.defend yourself - and the thug comes and kills you - wouldn’t blame fall on the authorities who had the information but chose to conceal it from you?
So what. 0bama’s half white. Yet, his policies often are in favor of Black, and put the whites in a disadvantage position.
Of course, no disagreement.
I mearly point out that Hitler himself is said to have been 1/4 Jewish, and without Hitler's directions none of the Holocaust could happen.
I kind of doubt that, there are stories about it, but I doubt it.
No serious historian believes that there is any credible evidence that Hitler’s paternal grandfather was Jewish.
There’s a story out there that Khomeini had a jewish background and also Achmenijad is a jewish name. They’re everywhere. :^)
Lonesome in Massachussets: "No serious historian believes that there is any credible evidence that Hitlers paternal grandfather was Jewish."
To Cronos & Lonesome:
Check this out: a summary of evidence for Hitler's Jewish ancestry.
The story makes sense to me, and sheds light on Hitler's violent anti-Semitism.
I heard that Jesus was a Jew as well! They are everywhere!
On the weekend, I read that some Imam said that “anti-semitism was incompatible with Islam”. Whew! Talk about delusional.
I think, if you study the link carefully, you'll see that every claim and objection has been answered.
This makes no sense if it was a man whom she later married after the birth of Alois,
but it makes every sense if in the strict social rules of that time it was a person who would not be named, such as the son and heir of her employer in Graz at the time of the boy's conception."
Obviously, there is no "proof", but it's worth noting how much effort Hitler himself took to make certain of that.
And Hitler's own Jewish ancestry sheds interesting light on his violent anti-Semitism.
