ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) Rep. Todd Akins insurgent campaign against both Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and the leaders of his own party may not be the long shot its been portrayed, despite the national furor over Akins comments on The Jaco Report that women who are victims of legitimate rape have natural defenses against becoming pregnant.
A pair of polls taken after the incident and the following uproar either show Akin with a lead over McCaskill, or indicate the race is tied. The latest survey from Public Policy Polling, taken August 29, shows McCaskill leading Akin 45% to 44%, well within the polls margin of error. Another poll released the same day by the staunchly anti-abortion Family Research Council shows Akin ahead 45% to 42%.
In addition, Akin has picked up there de-facto endorsement of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who told NBCs Meet the Press that Akin was nominated by a plurality of voters in the Missouri GOP primary, and that since Akin has apologized, its time
.to move on.

No thanks to Karl Rove and the GOPe. GO TODD!
Meanwhile McCaskill is avoiding the democrat convention.
Gosh, I hope he wins. Sick of spineless Republicans masquerading as conservatives.
Let’s hope Akin can avoid inserting his foot again till November. He can come back and win this.

(In before the “I hope Akin wins but...)
If you hope Akin wins you’ll drop it and give him the chance to win, imho.
Ann Coulter, whom I used to admire, called him a "selfish swine" whom she "officially hates." By winning, Akin will show the world that Annie pulled a humbug.
LOL!
I would like to contribute to Akin but won’t do so until after Sept. 25, for I think he may still withdraw. Few can withstand the pressure he faces.
Include Mitt and Rove and Levin in on that.
“national (furor over Akin’s comments)” sub: news media aided by their GOP-e toads (furor over Akin’s comments)
I guess there’s no time to dawdle in this place when the backhanded compliments are flying fast and furious, lol.
Good! It’s time to put this bit of silliness behind us, and get on with the business of cleaning out Democrats.
give me a choice between a doorknob and McCaskill... I’ll go with the doorknob every time...
I am sending money tomorrow. He has narrowed the gap back to close what it was before. If he hasn’t withdrawn by now I doubt that he will in the future.

$64 question...do those who publicly abandoned Aiken try to “sneak back in” and help????
If he wins....HE OWES THEM NOTHING!!!! Going rogue!!!
Most everyone overreacted to Akin’s incoherent remarks.
Two groups say Akin is ahead, the Dem pollster PPP and FRC and both have an interest in him staying in the race.
