The controversy over Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin’s abortion comments was started by a George Soros-funded Democratic Party Super-PAC and the “bait” was taken by Republican Party officials who wanted him out of the race for other reasons, says John Putnam, Missouri state coordinator for the national Tea Party Patriots group.

Todd Akin started the "Akin Controversy." It starts and ends on him and him alone.
Stop wasting time looking for kookified conspiracies.
The GOPe didn't put the ignorant and offensive words in Akin's mouth.

It's ALL Akin and ONLY Akin.
Interesting, however this kind of stuff should be expected by candidates. Look, I hope he manages to win and I seriously understand why so many of us panicked....after watching the whole Foleygate fiasco and other notable losses of record. The back biting needs to stop though on all sides.
Many good conservatives on both sides of the Akin controversy had valid points. And it was not just establishment types that wanted him to drop out. Time will tell whether he should have withdrawn or not.
I thought he should drop out, as long as their were other candidates (like Sarah Steelman) available to step in.
As it is, he's the candidate, and I hope he can raise enough money from Huckabee and his backers to win, though I still suspect he'll lose. I'd be glad to be wrong.
Akin made a really stupid statement and then quickly recanted, apologized, etc. The Soros groups and the MSM blew up the controversy. The Republicans then announced that Akin had to withdraw. They criticized him as strongly as any of the Democrats did. They announced that Akin would not receive any funding for his campaign.
THAT IS WHAT MADE THE CONTROVERSY SO HUGE.
It makes me wonder if the Republican elites were working with Soros all along. I believe the Republican Party is infiltrated with leftist, Soros types who have contempt and hatred for honest conservatives and who are trying to help the Democrats win.

BTW, I still want Karl Rove brought up on federal charges for encouraging the murder of Representative Akin.
Did you read the article? It was the GOP Establishment that poured the gasoline on the fire. Within 24 hours they were calling for Akin's removal, announcing they were cutting off all funding to him, and disinviting him from the GOP convention. If they had just noted that they regret Akin's remarks, he has apologized for them, and now is the time to move on to the real concerns of MO voters, e.g., unemployment, the economy, debt and deficits, the repeal of Obamacare, overregulation, etc. Caving in to the MSM just reinforces their behavior, i.e., it works.
You don't cut off your nose to spite your face. And you don't treat a colleague by publicly humiliating him. Akin makes the decision as to whether to stay in the race or not, not the GOP. What the GOP did was counterproductive no matter how you believe in terms of whether Akin should stay in or get out.
The more the GOP Establishment attacked publicly, the more Akin dug in his heels refusing to get out. He was after all the victor in a bruising primary. The voters had spoken. Akin had an obligation to them. And the attacks hurt Akin's electability if he stays in, which means that the GOP ruled out any chance/hope of victory.
The GOP, the Stupid Party, also got Romney and Ryan to call for Akin's removal so they could very well be running on the same ticket as Akin, which will change the focus of their campaign in MO. They will be asked repeatedly if they still want Akin out of the race or even elected. There was no reason for Romney or Ryan to get involved publicly. It was a dumb, dumb, move.
He seemed quite ready to dispose of Akin, the Republican, but what about the Democrat ~ does anyone have any idea who Rove works for these days?
Look, I hope and pray to be proved wrong, that you all are right, and that Akin wins. I also hope Todd Akin becomes more judicious in his comments and that he is a success in the senate.
I suppose you might call me “risk averse” because we have at least two other candidates who at this point don’t seem to carry as much risk.

Rove has never forgiven Akin for voting against Bush's big government expansions and it wouldn't surprise me to find out that Rove is on Soros's payroll.
Akin is not one of them. Consider the breathtaking fact that they, including Romney, preferred the reelection of Senator McCaskill over the conservative Akin.
No. The MSM still decides what is a controversy and what isn't. It is impossible for all candidates to be politically correct all the time. If Akin wins, it shows that the new media has enough clout that the MSM cannot choose all are candidates for us.
He works for whomever provides the greatest opportunity to wield influence. Influence is everything to Karl Rove. He’s rooted into the Republican side of things but holds much greater disdain for social conservatives than he does for any Democrat, witness Delaware 2010, when he threw a stomping, squealling fit in support of a man who quite literally was a Democrat in all but name.
I’m thinking his stepfather was far more influential in his life than is generally understood.

Todd Akin is an honest and HONORABLE man, mot a party hack. Will not tow the party line. Will not go along to get along, and he has proven it many times over. I love him.
