Thank you George W dumbass doofus Bush for signing this stupid piece of legislation in America to phase out incandescent light bulbs. Already 100W & 75W are no longer carried except for what the companies had in stock, next will be 60W and then 40W & 25W. The legacy of pandering doofus, stupid, dumbass GW Bush will haunt & destroy America every bit as much as the RAT bastard commie pig 0dumb0. GW Bush had every oppportunity to have gone down as perhaps the greatest American president if he had governed as a staunch conservative. Instead he was & always has been a liberal New World Order socialist masquerading as Republican conservative.
The two greatest inventions in the history of mankind, the incandescent electric light bulb and the gasoline combustion engine...otherwise we would be no different than the last 5000 years. And yet that isn't good enough for the liberal retards & environmento crazies..... they want to push America & the world back into the stone age, and only the elitists will have modern conveniences.
Thank you dumbass doofus GW Bush...your stupidity & idiocy lives on!

The restrictions are predicted to save 39 terawatt-hours of electricity across the EU annually by 2020.
...and further make a mockery of the concept of individual freedom. Western Europe has become a land of two-legged sheep - or rather is simply reverting to their long history of a huge, sheep-like peasantry utterly controlled and ruled by a small, all-powerful ruling class which decides what the peasants may have and what is too dangerous for the peasants to meddle with. The only real difference is a higher standard of living.
But this is not to say we aren't getting there too. We're just a few years behind, and both the Democrats and the GOP are determined to see us there - the Democrats would like to do it at 100mph and the GOP is willing to do it at only 90mph.

Not only is the light-bulb a victim of these greenies, but so is the old style washing machine! You can hardly find a washer with an agitator anymore! (I know, there’s one in the WH) These new high-efficiency washers do not clean clothes worth a damn! And the amount of ‘water savings’ is on par with the amount of ‘electric watt savings’ of these new bulbs. It’s just the left shoving their way down our throats.

100 watters are verboten here (USA) but you can still get 75 watt incandescents at Home Depot etc. But 75 watters will be banned come Jan 1st so stock up
I notice that HD has mercury based incandescents 100 watts illumination rating but done with 75 watts of electricity so they get the green fascist stamp of approval. The rip off price is 2 for 4$

Let’s see, it’s against the law for my 90 mother-in-law with macular degeneration to purchase light bulbs that are sufficiently bright enough for her but we are encouraged to ‘save the planet’ by purchasing electric cars which use electricity approx. equivalent to 15 100W bulbs burning 24 hrs/day. This is California, of course it makes sense!! It’s all about what seems like a good idea.....

I've used CFL's for a long time, but really, they are only good in certain application. Places where they might be used for extended periods of time (outdoor night lighting), and places where any extended life might be a relief (hard to reach bulbs). But anywhere that you are going to have constant on and off cycles is a not a great idea, like a bathroom. For us southerners, the lower heat output of CFL's is a nice side benefit too.
I plan on stocking up on incandescents too. For some if not most applications, they just make more sense.

“The restrictions are predicted to save 39 terawatt-hours of electricity across the EU annually by 2020”
According to wikipedia, present annual consumption of electricity in the EU is 3,000 terawatt hours.
Thus the projected savings, in eight years, amounts to 1.3% of present consumption.
Whereas according to IAEA, consumption will increase: “projected primary energy demand growth of 1.7% per year.”
The projected savings eight years out do not amount to more than the projected year over year increase for a single year.
The light bulb mandate has very little to do with conservation, and everthing to do with control.

As for the “environmentalists” and politicians who forced this law, their bulbs have been dim for decades.

If you keep pet
reptiles, you
need to have incandescent basking lights for their health. You can't use CFL bulbs for this purpose because they don't throw off enough heat. I have been buying up numerous 25W and 40W tubular incandescent bulbs in 99 cent stores against the day I can't get them any more. They work just as well as the expensive special basking light bulbs sold at pet shops to keep my little lizards warm. They get their UV requirements from the fluorescent UVB bulbs over their tanks. I know that there are numerous herp-keepers over in Europe. I wonder what they are going to do with this stupid ban?
I also have a remote control ceiling fan which originally wouldn't work. I called in a ceiling fan specialist electrician. He explained that the particular remote receiver in this fan (a Hunter) would not work unless I had at least one incandescent bulb installed in its light kit, because somehow the receiver needed the filament in the bulb to pass along its message "Light up, you guys." I switched out one of the CFL bulbs in the light kit for an identical looking incandescent bulb and voila! They ALL then worked. How weird is that?
Now HERE'S 2 problems I bet nobody else here thought of!
