Republicans Are Pouncing On A Startling Admission From The Governor Of Maryland

Maryland Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley said Sunday that Americans are not better off under President Obama than they were four years ago, a somewhat startling admission that Republicans and Mitt Romney immediately pounced on.
On CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday morning, host Bob Schieffer asked O'Malley if he can "honestly say that people are better off today than they were four years ago."
"No," O'Malley said, "but that's not the question of this election."
"The question," he continued, "without a doubt, we are not as well off as we were before George Bush brought us the Bush job losses, the Bush recession, the Bush deficits, the series of desert wars, charged for the first time to credit cards, the national credit card..." "George Bush is not on the ballots," Schieffer quipped.
The first sentence was good enough for the Romney campaign. It's a somewhat baffling admission because the Obama campaign has explicitly avoided giving a "Yes" or "No" answer to the question during the campaign in hopes of avoiding a bad soundbite.
That was the case on both ABC's "This Week" and "Fox News Sunday," where advisers David Plouffe and David Axelrod both avoided a direct answer.

The budget mess Obama inherited? The one he always complains about?
...belonged to none other than that babbling boob speaker Pelosi!!!!! She's the budget busting diva...the mother of all unfunded stimulus spending. And we're still operating under her bloated budget. Hmmm... Didn't Barry vote for that mess?

SAY IT!!!!! SCREAM IT!!!!!! Make a banner and fly it around the country. Tattoo it on Paul Ryan's chest and make him a Playgirl centerfold. Meme it! Tweet it! Facebook it! Hashtag it! Google bomb it!...
I do not understand the Republicans ignoring this simple fact of the Rat take over of Congress in January of 2007 and what they did! The evidence is overwhelming of what they did to America.

Yes, the “Community Reinvestment Act” Began showing it’s stuff in a big way, and the Commie-craps took over in congress, calling for massive tax increases, so employers did the only thing they could and laid-off America.

Makes perfect sense. O Malley is positioning himself for 2016 and Obama losing to Romney is in his interest.
Watch out for this guy. He raised our sales tax, liquor tax, cigarette tax and income tax and he got gay marriage and Dream Act college tuition for illegals passed too and he still is popular in Maryland. He gets on national TV Sunday shows every other week and he NEVER gets called on it not even when going up against Republicans.
2016 against Romney would be the soft spot he is looking for.

No better off???? I’d be thrilled right now if I was *as well* off today as I was 3.5 years ago.Apart from government paycheck recipients (both the welfare parasite variety and the “worker” variety) most Americans are *worse* off today than 3.5 years ago,me included.

Good Evening SoL, you really think O'Malley is looking at a possible run in 2016?!? The last decent Marylander on a presidential ticket was Spiro Agnew in '68 and '72! lol

I'll be watching that joker just because you said so, however if the Republicans can just find ONE film clip of O'Malley scratching his head as if trying to figure out a question, they can splice that into an attack ad that says "Maryland Has Crabs, and so does O'Malley!"

the series of desert wars, charged for the first time to credit cards, the national credit card..." The Gov is either lying or is completely ignorant of history.
Every war ever fought by this country was financed by debt.
I guess this governor has never heard of WWII war bonds and the tours made by Hollywood Celebrities and war heroes selling them.
Shut up or learn your history.
The governor is okay with financing every other function of the Federal Government with debt but not war.
Typical Lib. We must give the welfare queens cell phones government debt but we can not defend the country on government debt. Bleed the rich dry so welfare queens can have more illegitimate babies but dont you dare buy another F22!

So O'Malley ? what is the question of this election ? ... opps, I know, you and your elk, and your Party is trying to divert the attention away from the bad economy and turn this into a race issue as you are doing now, it's about " RACISM !! ".....

Lil’Marty thinks the question of this election is to hold another secret session.
To raise taxes.
Again.

This guy O'Malley is a very slick con artist, he would rarely slip up.
He's the worst you can find, he will smile in your face and lie to you... the worst of slick con artists.

Something sure did happen - the Dems took control of both houses of Congress.

I just recently did some research on the unemployment rates during Bush’s 8 years and it averaged out at 5.3% for all 8 years. This was taken from the Dept. of Labor statistics. Even Jimmy Carter’s rate was below 8% for his 4 year term. It averaged at most 7.5% - still lower than zeros. Facts don’t lie - only people do.

" BUT THEY STILL BLAME BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!! "
And that's what O'Malley tried to turn the attention to, if it were not for the bad economic years under Bush the Democrats would not have had this problem.
