As the Republican National Convention wound down Thursday evening, Sarah Palin said it was time for Mitt Romney to "quit preaching" to the conservative Republican base and get on with targeting the Reagan Democrats and independents he'll need to win the White House.
"Obviously the convention helps. It builds enthusiasm," said Palin, who did not attend the GOP gathering in Tampa. "But we have to, you know, beyond tonight, quit preaching to the choir.
"We need to talk to the independents out there in America, the hard-core patriotic American who wants a job," she told Fox News' Sean Hannity, adding that the Republican presidential nominee has to reach out as well to "Reagan Democrats who are not obsessed with partisanship" and want to know, as President Ronald Reagan used to say, "that our best days are in front of us."
"That's who we need to reach," she said.
The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee also warned Romney to prepare for more negative attacks as he tries to peel off support from President Barack Obama.
"It perhaps will get even worse in these next 60-some days" before the November election, she said. "Everybody needs to hang on to their hats."
Palin, now a Fox News contributor, again attacked her favorite target, the mainstream media, which she characterized as "lapdogs" for Obama, and which she still blames for the Republican loss in the 2008 presidential election....

Nothing against Rubio, however, I don’t think he can pass the Natural Born issue.
He is also an absolute disaster on Border Security/Illegal Aliens...and National Security/supporting Huma Abedin and Muslim Brotherhood over the Congressional inquiry
The reason there are so many problems with GOP candidates is that they are not conservative...and no amount of wishing or Sean Hannity nob polishing is going to change that
Nice for you to come out of the closet and admit your a mindless idiot who is clinging to his ego driven opinions because his candidate of choice did not get the nomination
Only a total political idiot would be actively propagandizing, as you do, for the Obama campaign out of petty childish spite that the GOP did not pick his candidate of choice.
Herman Cain would tell you you are being a total fool.
Hey I’m comfortable with my candidate.
He’s not my first choice, but now that I’ve made it, I’m in.
All bets are off, November 7th. Until then though let’s go.
No, actually context in a forum like this is quite important. And anyone who looks up thread will see that either 1) you had no clue as to the context of my post that you (mis-)cited, or 2) you intentionally distorted what I posted.
So, the "context" here is, you are either ignorant or an ass. I suspect both.
Rubio is not a fool.
Hmmmmm.
This election is going to be all about base turnout. Where I’m at there is zero and I do mean zero enthusiasm for these candidates. To give you an idea of what its like, I’m in Virginia. There have been ads on for months. You can’t turn on a TV or radio and not have someone telling you why you need to vote for willard or hussein.
But the silence is deafening. No one is talking about the election.
Just for fun, I went around my neighborhood to count lawn signs and bumper stickers. There are roughly 150 houses in my neighborhood.
There were no lawn signs. Not one.
There were 5 bumper stickers. Two for hussein, one for Rick Santorum, and two Virgil Goode stickers (my cars).
That’s what willard is facing.
I think that is what most of this convention was designed to do. The choices of speakers (aside from a few rather boring dinosaurs), the fact that everyone who could included a line or two of Spanish in their speeches, the fact that they kept offering the invitation to Democrats who voted Obama last time to let it go... you voted your heart last time, now vote your head and your reality...
I think Eastwood’s goofing with an empty chair had the same intent and itself included an open invitation to Democrats. And Romney’s speech struck a tone that was designed to make Democrats feel good about crossing over.
I feel like its going to be a rout this time. I hope I’m right.
Romney should be up way more than 15 points with independents. The independents I’m talking about (and the ones that Palin seems to be referring to in her interview) are the Reagan Democrat crowd... and Romney has some innate disadvantages with them, being seen as an aloof, Wall Street zillionaire from an elite political-family background and a freaky religion. They can probably relate far more easily to Ryan.
CNN:
Do you hear a cricket or perhaps a small lapdog?
So after squealing every day about Rino Romney you now want to claim Palin is "brilliant" for advocating Romney do what you have been whining about him for months about.
Are you two really this politically ignorant? You the same sort of dogmatic purists who whined hysterically in 1986 about Ronald Reagan "betraying the Conservative movement".
No one in life is EVER going to be politically perfect enough for you perpetual whiners.
Spending all your time having hissy fits because no one is politically pure enough to fit your emotion based opinions is the behavior of pathetic spoiled children, not rational adults
If Sarah Palin doesn’t run for Senate from Alaska in 2014 and win, her political career will be over. Hopefully she is planning to run. I doubt she would have any role in a Romney Administration.
IF you look at posting history, I think you’ll understand exactly what RC is saying.
(holding all futher talk about Palin, until after the election)
:)
You read too much into her vague comment.
It could mean...keep the same message but find a new audience.
100% spot on. According to the latest polling, nothing has to be changed to cater to Reagan dems or indies. Our ticket appears to be winning them at this point in time.
This time, everyone knows how bad Obama is. Totally different than 2008.
I bet the ones with the Hussein stickers are happy to see the ones with the Goode stickers.
Maybe but you are a Romney worshiper - so that says about you.....a denier of conservatism.
Pourquoi?
Rubio is an amnesty pimp. He also endorsed Romney before it was cool. Seems like double fool to me.
Are you able to read?
I said Palin/Rubio is brilliant. Good grief.
Let’s see, I knew you by internet when Reagan ran for president? What a moronic conclusion on your part.
Of course no one will be politically perfect, but good lord man at least they should be mostly conservative, Romney doesn’t have a conservative bone in his body.
You want to support him, go ahead, just be aware of who he is, and its not conservative.
Oh, yea stay on topic. What you are doing is soooooo typical of people who have no point to deviate from the topic, but hey why am I not surprise.
