Tampa 2012: In remarks to a chair as vacant as the one in the Oval Office, a Hollywood icon reminds us that the president is a failed employee of the people and it's time to let him go.
As performance shtick, it may not have come off perfectly. But judging from the reaction from those "left of Lenin," as 82-year-old Hollywood legend described it during a sort of surprise appearance at the Republican National Convention Thursday, it skewered our absentee president perfectly.
"Clint, my hero, is coming across as sad and pathetic," tweeted "left of Lenin" film critic Roger Ebert as Eastwood ad-libbed Thursday night to an audience of millions and one empty chair. "He didn't need to do this to himself. It's unworthy of him."
Eastwood's point, though delivered haltingly, was that President Obama is unworthy of the great nation he disparages and apologizes for incessantly, and that our failed employee should be given his walking papers.
Ebert and others miss the point that it is what Obama has done to us that is sad and pathetic.

Golf club? Nice touch.
I just read a liberal article saying no one wants to take responsibility for asking Clint Eastwood to speak - I am very glad someone did....we thought he was delightful....loved the empty chair and the references to go ...... clearly an anatomical impossibility. Obama is such a jerk.........
I agree!
“Every Which Way but Loose”!!!
That is exactly what I thought of when I saw him last night.
People forget Clint did pretty low brow comedy. He did it well last night.
They are idiots. Clint is an icon.
And Clint did it all WITHOUT a teleprompter.
I loved his presentation.
Short, Sweet, To The Point, (of his stiletto wit)
Rush said it all: “Brevity is the soul of wit.” Ebert is too stupid to know that.
I thought it was rather funny, but I would have preferred seeing Eastwood talking to a Suit while it was hanging on a valet.Because Obama is nothing but an empty suit.
You got that right. Dead pan low brow. Listen closely, because if you don’t catch it, the subtle humor he uses will sail clean over your head.
Thanks for the ping...
Clint Eastwood did an excellent job of outing the leftists - again. He’s got them all fired up and it’s fun to watch them all come unglued!
Good Job, Callahan!
Dirty Harry:
“Is that your dog?” “Why, do you want him?”
I forget which movie it was. Marvelous.
I didn’t listen to Levin this evening.
Was that his take on Eastwood?
I bet someone in the Kremlin showed this to Putin and he probably fell over laughing. In fact, a lot of our Allies would do it also.
I couldn’t help but feel that Clint’s halting delivery was caused by his holding back the words he really wanted to say. Always a gentleman, that one.
Romney should go to that Caterpillar plant in Illinois and discuss what happened after Obama's visit. He should also go to Tombstone, Arizona and discuss federal lawsuits against fresh water for the town. Pay a visit to Jan Brewer.
That empty chair has gone absoluately VIRAL...everyone is talking about...THANK YOU you useless mediaWHORE you did your job well...BAWHAHAHAHA!... Useful race baiting idiots...

Clint Eastwood RNC Speech (COMPLETE): Actor Assails Obama Through Empty Chair ABCNews
It is a good link....I don't think it will deliver a virus....
I agree. The biggest issue I had was there was very little call for Democrats to be defeated. We need a strong majority in the Senate and house. Otherwise, Romney will have no chance of straightening things up. “dingie” Harry Read won’t allow a Romney budget to be voted on. PERIOD.
Moreover, this was the 1st time that I can recall in which Obama was truly ridiculed - and it was devastating - and it was in front of 40 million people! Let the left/MSM squeal. From now on, when people see an empty chair, theyre going to think of the Islamomarixist!
Ans as Rush L pointed out a TelePrompTer in front of the chair.
When Michael Moore tried the same thing with Roger Smith, he was hailed as a genius.
