Now amazon has streaming availabilty for dozens of these one hour shows....interviews with fascinating people....Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Muhammed Ali, Thomas Sowell, Hugh Hefner, Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman, Saul Alinsky, Rush Limbaugh....
There are some loonies here who consider Buckley to be worse than Obama. Just sayin’.
I am no stockholder in Amazon, but I am a Prime subscriber.
Seeing these fascinating people is worth the $79 a year.
Wow...this is wonderful!
My grandmother used to make me sit down and listen to these shows with her. At the time I had very mixed ideas and thoughts about politics. I had a kind of longing to be part of something big in the world..so I sort of went along with the hippie anti-war “movement”, but secretly, when I listend to WFB I couldn’t figure out why he was wrong- he made so much sense! In particular I remember his debates with John Kenneth Galbraith- those were the ones that really began to get my attention.
“Vapid” “Conundrum” Thank you Bill for my vocabulary!
This was when public television, in this case SC Public Television, was worth watching. I never missed an episode if possible. His use of the English language makes me feel uneducated.
If one has to pay for Amazon Prime, then how is this service “free?”
Way cool. Been Amazon prime for a few years. It’s a good deal. Now it’s even better.
I watched Firing Line when I was 10 years old. Watching Buckley expound on an idea and formulate an argument with his language was like looking at the inside of a Swiss watch.
For some reason I remember in detail his show when he hosted the beat-poet Alan Ginsberg. It was not what I expected at all. Not knowing Ginsberg, I expected a sullen, leftist, drug-taking hippie to clash with a traditional Buckley. It was the opposite. Ginsberg was effervescent and almost innocent, while Buckley accepted him totally, and was clearly very taken with a poem Ginsberg read on-air.
I’ve watched it again and again on youtube.
Congratulations. Your money helps fund gay marriage advocacy, the espionage of Julian Assange and the promotion of pedophilia.
Kind of like “bogo” deals I am sure you’re familiar with when you’re out purchasing stuff at your local grocer. Prime is a good deal....you also get automatic 2 day shipping on most orders and access to lots of ebooks and videos.
My son had to read “Romeo and Juliet” for school, so while he read it we watched the Liz Taylor/Richard Burton film via Amazon, too. Great way for him to visualize what he was recording.
Yeah, and it’ll also go to educating my kid about the strengths and truths of conservatism.....all on Amazon’s servers.
I am certain I could go through your life and find plenty of examples wherein you support men and women whose positions are reprehensible...but to what end? I think the cost of amazon prime is worth the benefit...and I use those benefits for a good end.
recording? I meant READING. :)
Good news! Thanks!

Thanks. Also consider how great “Firing Line” is and how it can help you re-connect with thinkers and newsmakers of the past.
Otherwise you're supporting some company that supports "diversity" and "gay friendly workplaces" and gives out grants to left wing anti-capitalist artists, etc.
