By your logic he must go, for there is no room for error.
The NRC, NRSC and you of course will oppose him in 2016, right?
The posters who spent most of the last week hammering Akin for a lesser offense sure are quiet this morning.
By your logic he must go, for there is no room for error.
Of course there's room for honest error - there's no room for saying and meaning what he said.
Boy, you are obviously smarting over Todd’s misstep.
Rubio’s mistake was so obvious that no apologies or mea culpas are necessary. Nobody is calling for him to step down, resign or claim he is unfit for office. Have you thought about why that is so?
One person’s error was obviously innocuous. The other’s many defenders still claim he made no error. That is because many people feel he really believes what he said. And that is the problem. He didn’t just say today is Thursday, when he meant Friday. He gave a thoroughly bogus medical justification for his viewpoint.
Todd has since had to apologize repeatedly for his “crazy” medical arguments. He has admitted they have no scientific justification.
Now, I give him credit for admitting his understanding of the science is totally without merit. Fine. However, how anyone could have even thought that in the first place is bizarre. And even if he thought that wouldn’t you want to do some exhaustive scientific research before you publicly espouse such ideas?
I will assume that he has educated himself on the science and no longer entertains those “crazy” ideas; however, it still leaves a person wondering what other “ideas” may be percolating in his head. Is he going to spout out some other unusual scientific facts that later have to be dialed back. Unfortunately, he has left a lot of people with the impression he is a little kooky.
Personally, I don’t think he harbors any more of those type of ideas. After all he is an engineer and many of his ideas of science and its applications should be grounded in the real world.
However, your attempt to equate Rubio’s mistake with Todd’s is a stretch. If Mark Rubio had said “After talking with astronomers I have concluded the moon is made of swiss cheese” I would then say his mistake was equivalent to Todd’s and maybe Rubio should think about resigning from the Senate.
Todd’s fate is now in the hands of Missouri voters. I still hope he steps aside, for the good of conservative and pro-life movements, the State of Missouri and the country but that is his call and apparently he is going to stick it out.
If his decision is final I think he is being very selfish but I still hope he wins. The potential chance to take the Senate is a rare opportunity and means so much for the future of our country.
I never really went that far. Are you saying that such an option of letting Rubio go would be understandable and justified for making such an error?
I certainly did not read where anybody is calling for Rubio to step down over this. (perhaps because of his stance of illegal aliens) but not this.
Show some examples? Or are you just trolling to start a circular firing squad on this issue in FreeRepublic?
Yeah, I noted that gaffe. Rubio got excited and actually mispoke and the Convention and conservs will forgive him because all of other words were spot on. He is a yound conserv with more common sense than any of the leftist doofuses that make up the DNC ilk. Oh, does that include you???
Gee, thanks for calling this to my attention. I didn’t notice the gaffe.
It doesn’t seem to corellate at all to Akin’s comments.
Have fun with it.
