On night two of the Republican National Convention, Fox News Channel was once again the network more people went to to get their political fix. That said, every network was down substantially from the same night in 2008, when Sarah Palin made her RNC debut.

Wait until tonight. The world's most famous Mormon is giving his acceptance right in the middle of BYU’s nationally televised opener. Not even the folks in Utah are gonna be watching the doin’s in Tampa. I'm rooting for Washington State anyway...

Hopefully the Washington State players won’t be listening to their “fat, little girlfriends.”

Viewership was also down over a recent 4 week period. ABC was down 21%, FOX was down 20%, CBS down 8%, and NBC down 3% among the 18-49 year old demographic. This was in general, having nothing to do with the content of the RNC.

I think it's actually a good thing that the network viewers are down 17m over 2008. It means that less people are tuning into the lamestream media with their biased commentary, the split screens and the incredibly annoying ticker that constantly runs along the bottom of the screen.
With most people in the country on a high bandwidth internet connection, it is easier to stream video and I don't think they measure that when they compile their ratings. I also don't think they are counting C-SPAN viewers.

17 million viewers gone. You gotta love Paul Ryan but when it comes to drawing in the folks there is nobody like Sarah Palin. In 2008 we had Sarah. In 2012 we didnt.
Case closed.
Not really. Viewership on big broadcast networks is down 17% in general this year against the 2007-2008 television season. In the last 4 weeks, there has been a reduction in viewership of 21% for ABC, 20% for FOX, 8% for CBS, and 3% for NBC among the 18-49 year old group. Given this, conclusions about the decreased NETWORK VIEWERS of the RNC having anything to do with content are weak. Have you seen what kind of online, non-broadcast coverage there has been and how participation in that relates to this demographic in terms of the 2012 versus 2008 convention?

Yep me too. The internets is king. I cannot understand
why people still pay for t.v. Especially for conservatives.
You pay 50 bucks or so a month( is that about how much it is? i cancelled mine more that 6 years ago) to be contin-ually attacked and insulted. And it enriches those that
loathe you and are actively working against your values.
Starve the beast!

Last night’s viewership was down almost 50%.

I forgot to add that it’s good that you are voting for Romney—it’s the only choice we have.
The GOPe is scared to death of Sarah and the TEA party—they will never include them in anything.
If we can win this election, it’s only the start of what we have to do to take this country back to it’s roots
C-Span is the channel on which I am watching the convention.....cuts out all the commercials and commentators telling us their rendition of what we just saw and heard.
I was heartened today to listen to Rush today. He seemed pumped about the convention so far..
Of coursse, tonight will tell the tale—when Romney makes his speech. I will vote for him in any event, but I hope he makes me WANT to vote for him.

Of course, 13 million will be watching on web, C-SPAN, and every other which way, but you trolls won't bother to notice that.
Nor will you notice that the GOP will lose far fewer viewers than the Dems. But you trolls won't notice that either.
Back to DU, troll. You have no power here.

Down 50% versus 2008. Lost half of Palin’s audience.

Over the previous night or over the same night 4 years ago? And this is network viewership. I had a TV in 2008. I haven't had one since then. I'll watch things on the web if I want to see them. I watch recaps of good parts later or listen to Rush or Mark Levin or Don Wade and Roma talk about them the next day. I don't need to be sitting there watching it all as it happens. I don't even do that for the Olympics.

It’s a shame that so many DUers want to see Obama reelected, and more important, that they are not zotted here for being trolls.

I was glued to watching about Isaac on TWC, otherwise and briefly I watched Ryan give his speech on CSPAN, the other outlets I could care less for.
I record everything so I can skip every single commercial. Even TWC I was at least one hour behind so I could flippantly disregard their carnival hawkers of goods and false promises.
Yeah I hate commercials, dont’cha think?
