A bill prohibiting the use of controversial therapy aimed at 'curing' homosexuality on gay teenagers has been approved by California's Assembly, bringing the state a step closer to becoming the first in the U.S. to outlaw the practice.
The vote in the Democratic-controlled Assembly on Tuesday represented a major victory for gay rights advocates who insist that so-called conversion therapy has no medical basis because homosexuality is not a disorder.
Democrat Richardo Lara, one of several openly gay legislators to champion the bill during the debate, urged Assembly members to stand with 'sissy boys'.

With progressive leadership like this it won’t be much longer before California is primarily populated with illegals, queers, dope peddlers, arrogant leftist professors and other government employees.
Sensible people do not have to live under the progressives’ Police State Tyranny that forces them to accept sexual perversion as normal and to provide cradle to grave welfare for illegals and moochers.
Yet another reason for normals to abandon the Freak State with alacrity.
That’s true as well, no doubt. Hard to believe society could outlaw any kind of therapy, especially when it comes down to a transfer of thoughts and ideas between two people.
Will people like Joseph Nicolosi who has been quite successful with reparative therapy in California now be persecuted?
maybe, but I reject the belief that they are necessary, at all
they keep people believing that they are unable to prevent their own alcoholism, or any other addiction,
instead of teaching them that
(a)they really are in charge,
(b)the switch they need to turn is very large, but it is very weak (they’re so scared of how big it is they don’t really try to turn it), and
(c) if they want to take control and decide to totally take control they actually can do it, even on their own.
Those are truths.
As long as they remain in a 12 step porgram they are not taught them; instead they are taught they need the program.
A male trying to mate with another male’s anal canal is insane. A female trying to mate with another female with a rubber appliance is insane. It’s like Aunt Rosie sitting at your dinner table trying to eat by sticking a spatula in her ear and telling you that’s her lifestyle. It may be, but it’s still insane behavior. California legislators can pass a law outlawing the night, but it’s still going to get dark.
Who is this "they" you refer to?
I agree with you, just pointing out that I’d rather someone be addicted to the program, which doesn’t cost anything, than the drug etc. The program definitely creates dependency and definitely is a form of insitutionalism and brainwashing, but it is less destructive than the alternative for some people. I think generally speaking it is a last resort for certain flawed people that seek crutches. You generally don’t see people turn to AA the first time they get drunk and do something they regret. It usually takes a long series of events with intermittant periods of trying to do it on their own.
Homosexuality is the only psycho-social or physiological anomaly that we do not try to prevent, treat, or cure.
To act like rejecting one of the core foundations of animals (procreation) is “normal” is a pretty weak argument unless you also like to debate that schizophrenia is also “normal” and should be respected - and NOT treated.
That it effects about the same amount (or less) of our population that have autism should clue the reasonable human into what is actually occurring... An anomaly.
It may be “natural,” but it isn’t “normal.”
You may have been born with it, but it doesn’t mean that you were supposed to be. You’re not evil because you’re gay, but stop trying to argue that it’s as normal as the other 99% of us.
I think of the whole thing like having 6 fingers on one hand: if you’re cool with it that way then that’s fine - go about your life. If you think that you’d like to have 5 fingers, then go see a specialist and make that happen. I don’t care either way.
But don’t try to tell me with a straight face that your 6 fingers are “normal,” ‘cause it ain’t, man.
I tell you: the pro-abortion Democrats have all but built a bridge of precedents that the pro-life circuit can walk right over.
Strangely, given the libs' insistence on abortion rights, they don't seem to have a clue as to what they're paving the way towards.
H-M-M-M-M-M-...you haven't been paying close attention...they have met your requirements for a few years now...it's truly hard to believe that a state that size could completely lose touch with reality...Rhode Island, yes, but California????????
“It usually takes a long series of events with intermittant periods of trying to do it on their own.”
It’s a long period of “trying” while never believing that they can succeed at quiting, never believing they are really capable of quitting. It is that belief, not chemistry, that never permits success at quitting.
AA does not “repair that”, does not cure the mind; it says, yea, you’re right, you can’t quit, you need us.
What they need is to believe in their ability to quit, to believe that that belief is stronger than any addiction, and when they convince themself of THAT belief as much as they had convinced themself of their own weakness, they change their mind, they chose to believe in themself, not any power of their body chemistry.
What held the most power over them was their own fear, their fear that they were too weak, not that they actually were.
AA simply confirms their belief in their weakness.
Parents will simply cross state lines.
If this stands then it also stands that legislators can ban abortions on children who are pregnant.
Yeah, riiiiight...
The very first commandment was, "Be fruitful and multiply."
Of course we should ban schools, because ignorance isn’t a disorder. We should ban breast implants because micromastia isn’t a disorder. We should ban gyms because weakness and obesity isn’t a disorder. We should ban the state legislature because anarchy isn’t a disorder.
Oh, you suggest that people who want to change should be permitted to get help? What are you? Some kind of extremist?
My ex-wife was/is an alcoholic, and once every 5 years or so she returns, but otherwise lives her life.
Addiction to the program is a self limiting problem, in my very limited experience.
“Of course we should ban schools, because ignorance isnt a disorder.”
Banning public schools wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
And don't even look back at the risk of becoming a pillar of salt.
