Over 120 Pastors & Christian Leaders Stand with Todd

St. Louis, MO: Today the Akin campaign released a list of over 120 pastors and Christian leaders who are publicly standing with Todd Akin. Some had previously signed their name, but many are voicing their support for the first time. These religious figures from every region of the state have decided to place their personal and very public support behind Congressman Todd Akin in his race for the United States Senate seat this year. The endorsement statement released was as follows:

We the undersigned do hereby affirm/reaffirm our continued support of Congressman Todd Akin for the office of United States Senate. We know his character and his conservative convictions. Furthermore, we accept fully his apology and his request for forgiveness. As stated in our previous endorsement: “We greatly appreciate his long standing commitment to our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and his proven record of defending life, traditional marriage, religious liberty, the Second Amendment, free enterprise, limited government, fiscal responsibility and a strong national defense.”

It is for such reasons as these, that we the undersigned affirm/reaffirm our personal support and continue to encourage our fellow Missourians to support Congressman Todd Akin as our next United States Senator.

I agree mostly with what you say in Post 112. But Ma will have approx. $10-$12 million to pound on Akin. RNC pulled the $ from him. Even the $ contributed by folks in MO.

But it is past time to worry about what he said or didn't say. All that matters now is who wins the election. The line in the sand has never been clearer. In fact it is neon..

I can't vote for Akin, but when he is elected, he will be MY SENATOR. Being that I live in California, I don't have a Senator. Akin will represent me just fine.

I like that. I'm in Wisconsin and am pleased with our new Senator Ron Johnson. However, I think even he could learn something from Akin's right-n-wrong stoic perseverance. When Akin is elected, he'll represent me just fine too.

If Akin had any honor, he would have stepped down for the sake of the conservative agenda. Now with his selfishness, we likely lose the senate, and the ability to reverse Obamacare. What a doush.

I want to see the list of 120 independents who support him.

If we are to run simply to attract independents (which GOPE and Mitt are doing aside from the Ryan bone) then we might as well claim the mantle of the now extinct moderate Democrat because that is what Independents like...

Is it too late to ask Bill Clinton to replace Todd?

I mean we would win and Claire is a bit worse than Slick

this Akin brawl much like the GOP convention is pretty illustrative of where the GOP leadership has gone after Mitt and FOX clinched the nomination

My view...I know you dying for it...is that this election will be won on the anti Obama turnout...and that is the white male vote and married white woman vote

contrary to punditry and the GOPE those folks have not turned on Mitt over Akin and I bet most have not even turned on Akin in MO...if we mimic 2010 turnout in those demographics we win...easily

the other demographics with outlier exceptions will not pivot enough to matter

is one for the rape exclusion or not...that is a question...as for me I am against it given if we do not execute the rapist then why execute the baby?

but given politics I would be happy to see a ban (for now) that had a rape and incest and life of mother exclusion rule nationwide if we could get it...it would be an epic win for anti abortion folks like me

my gut feeling is that the GOP leadership is scared of social conservatism period and thinks it can run on fiscal responsibility and that may work given the ire against Obama...but it won't work unless you have a really nasty Dem to run against and get your base which is socially conservative motivated.

so if they win in November they should not be fooled...it was merely a perfect storm not brilliance

If memory serves, McCaskill was out-gunned pretty heavily by the coffers available to Jim Talent, and yet there she sits. Money is important, I grant you. But there are only two months to go and Akin's base grows more energized with every step toward the polls. The support of 120 pastors (and presumably a significant portion of their congregations) is an enormous leap forward so early after the Republican pile-on against him.

Hope they choose wisely.

Well, from what I ‘ve seen lately, conservatives, generally speaking, don’t seem particularly smart, nor are they strategically inclined. They just kinda seem like a bunch of whiners willing to let the USA go communist because they can’t get what they want.

So let ‘em go ahead with their plan to LET the country be torn asunder so they can rebuild it after...Seems brilliant and likely won’t be made of the usual conservative FAIL.

The rest of that crap you listed doesn’t matter at all.

Abortion for the health of the mother (which would mean unlimited abortion), Mandated Socialized Medicine in all 50 states, Homosexual Marriage and adoption, homosexual boy scouts. in other words, the complete and total abandonment of social conservatism and traditional values. None of that "crap" matters at all to you?

I think you are on the wrong forum.

Talent raised/spent $23.7 million in 2006

Ma McCaskill raised/spent $11.4 million in 2006

Source:Open Secrets

So yes, Talent had about twice as much. McCaskill won by approx.48K votes. Not an insurmountable advantage this time around. And Democrats were energized in '06. "Bush! Cheney! Haliburton!" IEDs. Third Fallujah. This year I just do not see Obama's base energized (yet). And if his base doesn't show up to vote for him, they won't be voting for McCaskill.

re: It's that simple (minded)

= = = = = = = = = = = = =

To the LOSIPs (Let Obama Stay In Power):

I'm sorry you went apoplectic when JimRob said that Obama must be thrown out. Put some ice on it.

You have seen what Obama has done in four years. Or maybe some of you haven't because you have been too busy hating Romney. You have seen that the Constitution does not get in his way because he has disdain for the "flawed" document. You have seen only the beginning of PDDs and Executive Orders and agency policies - making law by himself with a stroke of the pen and without Congress. Without the worry of campaigning for re-election there is nothing restraining him. I do not know if a guy who is pro-business and understands lower taxes and economic growth can save us from economic collapse; but I know that Barack Hussein Obama cannot. He does not want to do that. He wants the colonial power to be brought to its knees for its sins.

It sounds like some of you don't have the guts to fight a President Romney. I do. I'll be in the street. I'll be in front of the White House. I'll be on talk radio. I'm sorry that some of you are more afraid of a Mormon than radical Islamists. This Catholic is not.

Without congress having a role, five million illegals are going to become voters in 2016, if not in 2014. The FCC is going to install the "Fairness Doctrine" and effectively shut down talk radio. The Internet is going to be censored. Free speech will only apply to those on the left. As the debt doubles or triples and inflation hits, we face economic collapse. The result is more government control and more government workers. The Kenyan, who loves the murderous swine who call themselves Palestinians, hates Israel. Rather than strong support from Washington, Israel is going to have to go after Iran. When the Middle East blows up, gas is over $10 a gallon. We have not made any significant move to become energy independent and make use of our own resources. We cannot get crops to the stores. Obama takes over the trucking business and virtually every aspect of our lives as he declares a national emergency. The number of people on government assistance will skyrocket. Those people, dependent on government, will keep voting the left into power. The game will be rigged for a generation or more.

Our military is going to be neutered and our place in the world lessened. Our allies are going to know that they can no longer count on America leading the free world. Our enemies are going to know they need longer fear us. Particularly the Islamists; because one of their own is in the White House.

Look at the people surrounding Obama --- socialists and Marxists. The damage he has done to the nation he loathes has been horrific. But it is only the beginning.

Anyone but Obama? I will side with a great conservative, who has given his heart and soul to the conservative, pro-life movement. A guy who is a patriot beyond reproach. Mock him if you like, but you look like the fool. You know who he is. "Obama the capitalism-hating, liberty-hating, America-hating Marxist must be destroyed!!

apoplectic

apoplectic???

Definition of apoplectic (adj) bing.com · Bing Dictionary ap·o·plec·tic [ àppə pléktik ] 1.furious: overcome with anger 2.exhibiting symptoms of stroke: having the symptoms of a stroke Synonyms: enraged, furious, irate, apoplectic, beside yourself, seething, angry, annoyed.

I would change "apoplectic" to: "instructive":

Definition of instructive (adj) bing.com · Bing Dictionary in·struc·tive [ in strúktiv ] 1.informative: providing useful information or insight into something Synonyms: informative, educational, useful, helpful, enlightening, edifying.

That's very valid point and one that must be taken into consideration when handicapping this race. I think the 2006 numbers (pre-Obama base energy in 2008) are a good base line for what to expect in Missouri in 2012 for the Democrats. It might be slightly depressed by disaffected Obama voters that stay home instead of crossing over to vote for Romney. The conservative grass roots, however, are very motivated -- more so down ticket than for the presidential election. I trust these people will show up at the polls and pull the lever for Akin.

One of us did not have to look up apoplectic in the dictionary. Nevertheless, thanks for the English lesson. It was impressive research and even more impressive cut and paste job.

Unfortunately, I hit the POST button without reviewing and should should have caught it. I will admit to an error, although it may be a fine point. I should have said you became apoplectic, not went apoplectic.

That having been said, I have learned something that I have never seen in print, but perhaps I can incorporate it in some future diatribe (if you want to search the dictionary at this point, that’s fine). And, of course, I will give you credit for the poetic license in grammar. Let’s try it.

I got the phone bill yesterday and became instructive.
I became instructive when the liberal keyed my car because of the anti-Obama bumper sticker.
When Kemp was deliberately drilled with a high and inside fastball, he became instructive and charged the mound.

I like it!

Here is where we stand. I don’t like Romney but appear not to hate him as much as you hate him. National suicide is not appealing to me. In WW II, working with Joseph Stalin was necessary for our national survival. It was against our principles, but our parents and grandparents had no choice. Reagan would deal with the Soviets later.

Consider Romney to be Joseph Stalin if you wish. For our national survival, I will deal with Romney after we get rid of Obama.
