Over 120 Pastors & Christian Leaders Stand with Todd
St. Louis, MO: Today the Akin campaign released a list of over 120 pastors and Christian leaders who are publicly standing with Todd Akin. Some had previously signed their name, but many are voicing their support for the first time. These religious figures from every region of the state have decided to place their personal and very public support behind Congressman Todd Akin in his race for the United States Senate seat this year. The endorsement statement released was as follows:
We the undersigned do hereby affirm/reaffirm our continued support of Congressman Todd Akin for the office of United States Senate. We know his character and his conservative convictions. Furthermore, we accept fully his apology and his request for forgiveness. As stated in our previous endorsement: We greatly appreciate his long standing commitment to our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and his proven record of defending life, traditional marriage, religious liberty, the Second Amendment, free enterprise, limited government, fiscal responsibility and a strong national defense.
It is for such reasons as these, that we the undersigned affirm/reaffirm our personal support and continue to encourage our fellow Missourians to support Congressman Todd Akin as our next United States Senator.

Prophetic in so many ways.
So doug, are you on board the Akin Train?
I disagree. This is the perfect fight for those of us who have no stomach for fighting on Romney's behalf. Romney can turn left and chase the disaffected white liberal votes and the goofy fickle independents. He can have them. He will get neither money from me nor a vote in November. I cannot vote in Missouri, but I can import some cash and moral support. If the social conservatives can win this one for Akin, we can win it for anybody. It means we can run Sarah Palin in 2016 and get her elected. It means that we still have a voice in politics. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this fight.
Fight on Freepers.
Your Post #26 was very accurate.
The Akin train left the station. I am not on it. That does not mean I want McCasKILL to win. But it does mean that I will not give any money to his campaign. That is like betting on the Jags to beat the Patriots in Foxborough without a point spread. It is sickening because it is a seat that was winnable. Others could win it, but the guy is listening to those thinking with their hearts instead of their heads. And he is delusional. That can be a problem.
He said something stupid and can be forgiven for that. But then, when he had time to formulate a response to quell the firestorm, he went on Hannity and did not have the sense to correct it properly and lessen the damage. It got worse. I lost all respect for him when he lied to us, saying that “This isn’t about me.” He thinks people are fools. Well, some are. Of course, it is about him. He worked hard for years to put himself in this position. And he won’t let go. It is about him and his arrogance and his ego. If the lives of babies in the womb were important enough, he would withdraw in favor of someone equally pro-life and conservative. I have suggested that he make a deal with the Central Committee withdraw as long as he can name his replacement. He will never do that.
In 1964, as a teenager, I worked on the Goldwater campaign. “In your heart you know he’s right” was the slogan. In my heart, up until the last day, I thought the polls were wrong and people would do the right thing on election day. It was a very, very painful lesson because I had so much of myself emotionally invested. I cut grass to earn money to give to the campaign. The lesson was painful but important because I learned about political reality. Some still do not see it. God bless them for believing in Akin and thinking in their hearts that he can win.
Those things that influenced me were Buckley’s GOD AND MAN AT YALE, WHY NOT VICTORY, CONSCIENCE OF A CONSERVATIVE, NONE DARE CALL IT TREASON, MASTERS OF DECEIT by Hoover, etc. I have fought the conservative battle. The RATS are playing Akin across the country and it will be a vomit-inducing convention as we watch them exploit it. As a play on the Goldwater theme many years ago, I am waiting to hear, “In your guts you know Todd’s nuts.” And they will play it as the entire pro-life movement is nuts. Thanks, Todd.
>> They would rather have McCaskill in the Senate.<<
Now that’s a stupid statement, as long as we’re talking about stupid statements. Good grief. Do you even read what you write before you hit “post”?
Thank you Doug. Well said.
>>Stop blaming others. Todd Akin is in this mess completely because of himself.<<
First of all, Akin will probably win the seat once this nonsense dies down, and it will. The national press will be moving on as soon as they get their new marching orders from the Obama campaign.
And yes, Akin is in this mess because the GOP panicked. Scott Brown deserted first, to survive politically in Massachusetts, and the rest of the GOP then panicked. Talk about herd mentality—that afternoon was a perfect example. A number of the herd probably woke up the next day thinking, what was I thinking? But what’s done is done.
The only reason the panic got started was because there was a short window during which Akin could reasonably be pressured to withdraw. If that window hadn’t existed, no panic would have ensued.
>>The only choice the socons really have is to either embrace a different party or do something other than politics.<<
Oh, you Dems would really love that wouldn’t you? Not going to happen, but if Obama goes any further Left, you guys might find enough disaffected Dems that a new American Pride wing develops. After all, all of you can’t expect that the country deserves to be put in its place, as our President shows he believes by action after action, both foreign and domestic.
>>But, you might be right - maybe your poster was likening Romney to Hitler.<<
Maybe? You’re either being disingenuous or you are incredibly naive. Two choices, which is it? I don’t see a third option here.
If you do not have the stomach to fight on Romney’s behalf, then you damn well better grow a stomach and fast, because if you do not, America IS DEAD!
Sack up, put your pants on, and fight against the communists with whatever weapon God gives you.
I guess you are on the Romney train? Not that Romney has ever said anything stupid or lied or that Romney thinks we are all fools, eh?
Do you have respect for the homosexual agenda promoting, wholesale slaughter of the innocents (health of the mother) abortion promoting, socialist, gun grabbing lying sack of $#!+ Romney who seems to think that Boy Scouts buggering each other at camp is normal acceptable behavior? Is this the future of the Republican Party? Is this the culmination of your quest that began in 1964 with your volunteering for Goldwater?
Romney is good enough for you, but Akin is a pariah? Is that it? Is that where you stand?
Romney is not going to be the savior of this country. He doesn't want my vote. He's made it clear that SoCons are unwelcome in his abortion loving, homosexual agenda pushing, gun grabbing, socialized medicine pushing RINO Republican party. He is angling for the liberals, socialists, homosexuals and abortion loving independent vote and has no use for me or you or anyone else who doesn't toe the GOP-e Harvard educated "Moderate" Republican agenda.
I frankly fear a Romney presidency as much as I fear another 4 years of Obama. Romney will destroy the conservative influence on the Republican party. All of his liberal ideas and agenda will become the NEW CONSERVATISM, thereby driving our politics further and further to the left. What was left a few short years ago will become the new radical right.
So go convince all your liberal friends that if they really want a liberal then they need to vote for Romney. He wants their votes. Convince them to vote for him. I can't. There are many here who can't. Maybe you RINOs who support him can play the democrat game and vote twice or three times, or register your dead relatives or your pets. If it means that much to you, then cheat.
I trust that no matter who you or I vote for, God will give America the leaders that we deserve. God help us all.
I am not an expert on Missouri politics by any means. From an outsider’s viewpoint, it seems like he is toast. Do you think he can win? I ask that question sincerely.
No, God Help you.
I am going to help myself and my country.
I think any number of high school students could have offered a good argument to diffuse Akin’s poorly thought out/expressed words. Makes me wonder if the Repubs are capable of defining consequences of issues. I will also be listening very carefully if Romney in any way connects his vision/thoughts to the Founders intentions.
SO? Jesus only had 12 disciples, and look how that turned out.
I am supporting God Fearing Christian Conservatives who Fear God more than Obama. I am supporting Akin. I am not supporting candidates who push the homosexual agenda, who think that abortion for the "health of the mother" is just peachy keen, that support a federal mandate that all 50 states adopt a form of Romneycare as a "replacement" for Obamacare, who think that homosexuals should be encouraged to get involved in the boy scouts, or who think that someday they will become a God - an equal to our creator. Somewhere in that mix I think God would not approve of me casting my lot with the likes of Mitt Romney.
I will vote for genuine conservatives. I can't vote for Akin, but when he is elected, he will be MY SENATOR. Being that I live in California, I don't have a Senator. Akin will represent me just fine.
