Over 120 Pastors & Christian Leaders Stand with Todd

St. Louis, MO: Today the Akin campaign released a list of over 120 pastors and Christian leaders who are publicly standing with Todd Akin. Some had previously signed their name, but many are voicing their support for the first time. These religious figures from every region of the state have decided to place their personal and very public support behind Congressman Todd Akin in his race for the United States Senate seat this year. The endorsement statement released was as follows:

We the undersigned do hereby affirm/reaffirm our continued support of Congressman Todd Akin for the office of United States Senate. We know his character and his conservative convictions. Furthermore, we accept fully his apology and his request for forgiveness. As stated in our previous endorsement: “We greatly appreciate his long standing commitment to our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and his proven record of defending life, traditional marriage, religious liberty, the Second Amendment, free enterprise, limited government, fiscal responsibility and a strong national defense.”

It is for such reasons as these, that we the undersigned affirm/reaffirm our personal support and continue to encourage our fellow Missourians to support Congressman Todd Akin as our next United States Senator.

These are 120 Missouri Christian Leaders/Pastors, for the most part.

From churches with large congregations. Influential Churches. Mostly Baptists. Who believe in the "SHOW ME" principle. That they could get these 120 leaders to sign on means quite a bit. It is no easy task to get them to support a politician, especially in this particular situation.

I don't discard politicians like trash just because of one media-twisted response to a question. At least he was honest, even if some say he's not EXACTLY correct.

OUT WITH MRS. OBAMACARE !!!!

Not now and not ever will there be a law forcing raped women to carry a child.

Exactly where was that in his comments ?

He is dying on a hill with zero strategic value just to watch the invading army rape and pillage the people while he gasps his last political breath.

Perhaps what Akin said after the ALLEGED GAFFE is why people continue to support him and would rather have him than McCaskill.

Maybe they think the truth is worth sticking with. Maybe they think one questionable statistic is not enough to invalidate the record, and conviction of Akin.

Of course, If you prefer we could go with some paper tiger with a clean (and unproven) track record who will get eaten up and spit out by the corruption in the system.

Did you have someone in mind ?

I support Akin too.

Even though I don’t agree with him.

I have never seen a greater collection of cowards, whiners, babies, if I can’t have it all at once, then I don’t want any ever, self centered, part of the problem, most definitely not part of the solution so-called conservatives as I have seen here on this website.

I am sickened to my stomach. You deserve to live in a communist country. I hope your children remember to thank you when they are scrounging for roaches to eat like the Noth Koreans.

Unfortunately, that is what Akin and his son will be doing after his campaign goes down to an ignoble defeat in November. This is all very sad. Just saying...

Used to be a dem, no longer. I was when I started at FR in 04. Hence the site handle.

The only organization that hates socons more than the dems is the gop. How do you explain the gop going code red on Todd Akin? The dems were going to use the Akin gaffe regardless of whether he stayed in or got out. How did it benefit the long term interests of socons to have the gop attack him as well?

Every now and then the mask slips from the gop and you get to see what they really think. A conservative political party it isn’t.

Right now a warm bodied R to get the majority of votes to repeal zerocare is more important than this “rape exclusion” nonsense.

Yes he can. Missourians do not like outsiders, especially those who think that homosexuals should be Boy Scout troop leaders, telling them what to do.

Well atleast they will be doing it after the battle rather than before it as opposed to the so many lilly-livered GOPe whiners down in Tampa.

Good grief. Do you even read what you write before you hit “post”?

YEP and I will post it again:

After what the Romney camp pulled today in Tampa a lot of people got a wake up call though some are still stuck on stupid. Riebus's statement today puts to rest the nonsense we heard all week about him not being able to beat McCaskill. The Romney GOP don't want him to win and never did. They would rather have McCaskill in the Senate.

Did I make myself clear.

Akin said he was in the fight through November.
That will be the last we’ll hear from him.

Do you have respect for the homosexual agenda promoting, wholesale slaughter of the innocents (health of the mother) abortion promoting, socialist, gun grabbing lying sack of $#!+ Romney who seems to think that Boy Scouts buggering each other at camp is normal acceptable behavior? Is this the future of the Republican Party? Is this the culmination of your quest that began in 1964 with your volunteering for Goldwater?

Romney is good enough for you, but Akin is a pariah? Is that it? Is that where you stand?

Outstanding stuff, P-M. It should be used as the basis of a Freeper Editorial.

Too many conservatives have abandoned all perspective.

I wish Akin would have exited the race, not because I thought he was a bad person but because I thought he destroyed his chances of winning with the statement he made. Yes, that is unfair and it wouldn’t happen to a Dem, but its the world we live in. However, the fact that I wish we had another candidate does not mean that I think Akin is some monster or that he isn’t a good, God-fearing person who would do a good job IF he got in. I would support him and vote for him if I lived in MO. I still think he’s going to lose and people are living in a fantasyland if they think he can somehow win. And when he does lose, its not going to be because the “GOP Establishement” didn’t back him, its going to be because of his gaffes.

Horseshit. He’s the candidate. Period. The guys with the ties can go f themselves.

Yeah, he's the candidate, but a real loser.

Oh, and tsk, tsk -- is "horseshit" allowed around here? If it is, I can think of plenty of ways to use it on this thread.

So what you are telling me is that you will support candidates who push the homosexual agenda, who think that abortion for the "health of the mother" is just peachy keen, that support a federal mandate that all 50 states adopt a form of Romneycare as a "replacement" for Obamacare, who think that homosexuals should be encouraged to get involved in the boy scouts, or who think that someday they will become a God - an equal to our creator, as long as they have an "R" next to their name on the ballot box.

And if the majority of Americans believe like you, that all those things are hunky dorey, then why should God not give us the leaders we deserve? Why would God allow us to have leaders who bowed to Him when we want leaders who bow to political correctness?

Two things about ABOs who claim they’ll hold Romney’s feet to the fire and win back the party after the election:

1. They are not effectively holding his feet to the fire: ....in just the past week he’s come out for Romneycare again and also for a “health” exception in allowing abortions.

2. IF ROMNEY WINS: ...He will be the head of the party, his METHODS will be lauded as effective, he will install the leaders, and he will set the agenda.

IF ROMNEY LOSES: He and his will be shown to be losers, his methods will be proven totally illegitimate, the party will be in turmoil, the leadership will be shakey and defeatable.

Which scenario will provide the best opportunity for conservatives to change the power structure?

Which scenario will entrench liberal republicanism for decades?

It’s that simple.

It doesn't matter what Akin is. He's the candidate. PERIOD!!!!!!!! Read the law! I've only entered the facts at least 100 times!

Don't believe me? Visit the MO SOS site. Explains it in great detail. Can't believe we are still debating what he said. Ridiculous. It doesn't matter! Akin and Akin alone can petition the court to remove his name from the ballot. He will not do so.Will I eat crow? Well, I've already said if Akin pulls the pin (petitions the court)I'll donate $100 to FR.

But even if Akin petitions the court to remove his name? Guess what? It ain't over then!!!

As humans, we are unfortunately doomed to make mistakes, over and over again.

What sets people apart are those who CONFESS to their mistakes, ask forgiveness and try to repair any damage done.

As a Christian, the Lord asks us to forgive those who trespass against us, just as He does for us.
