"In an interview for Revealing Politics today, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was asked, among other things, if the party’s position on Akin would eventually change if Akin refused to step out of the race: The question is: “If he stays in, is your position eventually going to change? Are you going to have to support him? The Chairman replies “No, no. No. He could be tied. We’re not going to send him a penny.”

Women will not ovulate under certain circumstances. What is so hard to understand about that? The body will miscarry a baby under certain circumstances. What is so hard to understand about that? You don’t think stress can effect a pregnancy? You are undereducated in the neurobiological systems of the human species.

Pro-life rape victims and those who are children produced in rape are coming out to support Akins. Maybe you should read a little more about it.

Women who cried wolf — the illegitimate rape claim behind Roe v Wade

And here is my inspirational thought of the morning...

Obama is to Romney as McCaskill is to Askin.

how many people are voting against the administration no matter who there is to vote for? The majority don’t like romney, but they hate the current administration.

That is not completely true.

DeMint’s PAC is still behind Akin unless something has changed which is why he had the big meet last week with his supporters to see who would still pony up.

And DeMint was openly derided by the GOPE and some No Culture War types as a traitor and anachronism for not keeping with GOPE onslaught on Akin.

Note Newt did not jump on the Akin beatdown and nor did Cain or Bachmann

course we know who did and even went so far as to suggest a Third Party run against him...which would be stupid

I will tell you...biggest enemy Republicans have are themselves

This is nothing but a battle in the war between social conservatives and fiscal moderates...it has been going on since Goldwater and Buckley and Reagan stood out against a largely socially liberal GOP in the 60s and was really gassed up when very socially conservative former Dixiecrats swelled GOP ranks after LBJ went bonkers and Nixon ascended and some like John Tower got the switch going

Here we are 40 years later still the same war in the GOP more or less. Akin’s remarks just got what was already there all stirred.

We have arguably the most liberal GOP POTUS candidate we are being forced to support (or not) since ...Dole maybe...or even Ford and yet the same bunch who foisted this on us launched a nuke strike on one little GOP senatorial candidate over a poorly worded statement about rape exclusion in abortion.

It makes perfect sense from their perspective, they likely didn't like him anyhow.

it's just sad really...i think most GOP voters are more conservative than those they elect and are likewise more conservative than most GOP talk radio and punditry

we could use an overhaul

Even if the RINOs think Akin can win they will not support him.

Wow. Can we spell “hypocrite?

LOL! This from the same people who actually WANT Obama to win to teach the GOP a lesson? The same who won't vote for Romney even if there is a chance he'd win with your vote?

I agree with you that the RNC HAS to disavow Akin but I just hope the RNC doesn’t actively undermine him. I pray that Akin is able to pull off a win on his own.

So then who should Missourians vote for for Senate -- Akin or McCaskill???

And if it is close, should Prince Riebus's RNC send forces into the battle for Missouri???

We’re past that.

Um, no, we're not. If we were, FR wouldn't have these ongoing multi-hundred-comment threads about Todd Akin. And you still haven't answered my question - what does rape have to do with the 2012 Campaign?

We’re now at Priebus’s statement. Defend it.

Simple. If Akin were running as an independent candidate, he could tell everyone to shove off. But he's not, he's part of a bigger organization, benefitting from their help - and all they ask is that their candidates stay on topic - the lousy economy, Obama's incompetence, energy policy, etc.

THAT MEANS don't go wandering off and ramble about withcraft, rape, white supremacy, and any other eye-rolling crap that you know the other side will exploit. Easy, right?

Yet Todd Akin was incapable of following even that simple path. And when the RNC tried to contact him about it, his family put up a firewall and shut him off.

The RNC is under no obligation to support this selfish idiot any further.

I agree, I will vote, and it will be for whoever the R candidate is at election time... but the question went to fault... I said it was Akin’s. Akin shifted the whole emphasis, singlehandedly, away from the central issues of the economy the question of “whose America do you want, Obama’s, or ours”... totally derailing the momentum on our side. For this, he is a doorknob, all other issues aside.

My view on contributions to the RNC. Individual candidates only.

exactly.

Akin’s comments in fact completely destroyed the GOP momentum after the Ryan selection and going into the convention. The damage this idiot has done is incalculable.

Rape cannot result in pregnancies because women have some way of shutting that down?????? What in God’s earth is he talking about? Absolute freaking cretin.

Akin said some stupid things in an interview. The RNC hasn’t quit its stupidity since. Get rid of all of them.

what does rape have to do with the 2012 Campaign?

He answered a question about it that was asked by a journalist. The last time I checked answering questions asked by journalists is a part of any campaign -- even the 2012 one.

and all they ask is that their candidates stay on topic - the lousy economy, Obama's incompetence, energy policy, etc.

It seems that Romney et al forgot to stay on topic as well when demands were publicly made that a legally elected GOP candidate resign. Akin's comment may have been a gaffe but this heavy handed demand did not go over well in Missouri. The fact that a bunch of retired Senators signed on to it shows how out of touch they really are with Missourians who once put them into office.

and he contiuned...”now if it were a candidate who lost in the primary to a TEA party candidate, and was orchestrating a write-in campaign using questionable balloting methods, well sure, we’d help that candidate out.”

Dear Uncle Chip,

If the moron Akin is unwilling to do the right thing and step aside, for the good of the party, for the good of the country, of COURSE folks should vote for him. Better an egomaniacal moron who will vote for a Republican Majority Leader than a Dammocrat who will re-empower the serial pederast Lying Harry Reid.

And hope and pray he wins!

But that's not the question at hand. The question is whether folks associated with the rest of the party or with other candidacies should be seen supporting him. The answer is, no. It's vital to compartmentalize the damage he's done by limiting it to his own race, his own state. It's bad enough that we will likely lose this Senate race as a result of his stupidity and selfishness. We can't let his inability to negotiate one of the most basic, one of the most obvious traps set by the lamestream media for pro-lifers to infect other races, other candidacies.

If old Linda McMahon up in Connecticut takes money from the RNC, and the RNC is giving money to Akin, the media will tie her to Akin, no matter how hard she protests. She's in a close race. She might actually WIN! Why drag her down with the likes of this low-IQ pompous ass? The media, and especially their masters in the Party of Satan, have been trying this angle since Akin opened his big fat mouth and inserted his big hairy foot. But because the Republican denunciations were so fast and furious, so vehement, that line hasn't gone anywhere.

It's tough to say that Scott Brown in Massachusetts, for instance, supports Akin’s position, when Brown instantaneously condemned Akin upon hearing of his remarks. So, why connect the two campaigns through the RNC?

If he wins, let it be of his own effort. If he wins, that would be far better than losing. But he'll have to go it alone, not to endanger other candidates.

The better thing for this hand-picked candidate of McCaskill would be for him to realize that he is merely the tool of the Party of Satan machine, and step aside and let someone with a little more grace, a little more discretion, a little smaller foot, take over.

But it doesn't look like his pea brain can comprehend such a difficult, complicated idea. So - vote for him! With gusto! If you're so inclined, give him money! But don't expect other Republicans to throw this boat anchor a life preserver.

“So tell me Mr. Priebus if he runs and loses by a fraction of a point and the senate stays with the democrats and ObamaCare can not be overturned, whose fault will it be?”

The GOP made their decision based on the long term and widespread damage any association with Akin would bring. Just think about it for a moment this is the trap the MSM/Dems hope the GOP falls into.

Once you support Akin you become Akin forever and ever.
I don’t want to face these arguments for the next 4 years. Akin made his bed he can sleep in it.

PS There is not a snow balls chance in hell Akin gets within 5 pts of McCaskill, so this is really a non issue.

“This could be Akin’s winning strategy. “I’m standing up to the RNC. I’ll answer to you, not the party that abandoned me”.”

And how is he going to get that message out there? He has no money.

“Romney made a very stupid mistake by jumping into the fray. Now Akin can’t even appear with him or Ryan when they are in the state.”

This is the reality for Akin, he is persona non gratis anywhere in Mo politics right now (except for the Dems). No one wants to be near him or campaign with him. He is TOXIC.

“Every time that I read a RINO’s attack on Todd Akin, I send him a contribution. RINO Priebus’ comments added $40 from me to Rep. Akin’s campaign this morning.”

well that couldn’t amount to too much money, since the majority of attacks are coming from conservatives.
