Students are seeking to have the chain removed from the university's College Park campus.
Some 850 people have signed onto a petition seeking to bar Chick-Fil-A from the University of Maryland's College Park campus, the Washington Blade reports.

Agreed.
Everybody signing such a petition would have their names distributed to their Marxist professors for punitive grading. Better to anonymously vote with your wallet.
Just too easy. There is too much information easily available for anyone to just believe what is told without asking, looking and challenging and thinking for themselves. It only takes seconds to find out the truth if you are discerning.
I wonder if perhaps we could be on the verge of our own end to the equivalent of what was crony capitalism in SE Asia that pretty much ended back in about ‘94. People there had been fed either nothing for information or so much dis-information that they thought they had it OK. That is until the internet cafes began to open and young people found that there was a much better world out there and they wanted it and they revolted.
I wonder if, now with the internet and alternative news, we aren’t getting wise to the lies we are being fed? Dare I hope and pray?
you signing this is only going to be reported as signatures and you thinking what you did have added more signatures,
Heres a thought, just don;t sign the bleeding thing at all and that way you have not added any signatures except the ones you have alrwady done and it can;t be added to their report of how many signed the damn stupid thing
are you actually trying to get more signatures for this, as it seems so,.
It;s a stupid , no a really stupid dumb idea to sign the thing even if you put MIckey mouse.
Great idea for the homostapo or the loons on the left
It will be reported on how many signatures have been done not who did the thing and well done you added a couple to it.[sigh]
So, you don’t think that 2.3% of the enrollment should have a voice commensurate with the majority?
Clemson DOES have a Chick-fil-A, I’ve seen it on campus.
NO.
Do you?
Why?
It's not a free speech issue. It was only a free speech issue when Mayors Bloomberg and Emanuel asserted that they were going to deny permits to CF in their cites. That's an unconstitutional violation of the 1st amendment because it's government action. Here it's just a private protest. No different than us saying we're not going to support a musical artist whose politics we don't agree with.
How is the school being intolerant? School officials said they are not going to remove CF. And something like 35k kids did not sign the petition.
“Parents should transfer their students to a more tolerant university...”
Spot on.
Parents should yank their kids out of any and all colleges that have students that protest Chick-Fil-A, have gay student unions or any gay students or staff.
It seems there would be no problem whatsoever finding colleges, with top notch accademic programs, that are not at all influenced by the Sodomites.
They should move right off-campus on US-1 where I can get to it easier. Ledo’s is already there, now if we could attract a Jersey Mike’s Subs it’d be heaven.
I can round up 850 people to sign anything.....the only people who should have been allowed to sign that nonsense are the patrons as they are leaving CFA.. You can rest assured that the signers were NEVER patrons of the store, and who the he** cares what they think.
I agree, and the petition was one of those that you click on at Change.Org.
I didn't know that....I've never seen "change.org" so maybe I should go over there and edumacate them a little!!!

ha, it’s an Obama liberal site - all they do is petition against anything not PC -— have fun ;-)
We are talking about a petition signed by Democrats, which means they probably hired an ACORN guy to fill in all the blanks. How dare an owner of a business express his unsanctioned opinion about gay marriage. That is against the rules in the world of leftist academia. You know, the world of open minds and diverse opinions.
My statement stands about the constitutional illiteracy which is a consequence of America's public schools failure to teach America's founding documents and the ideas underlying those documents.
For these students to "petition the University" to remove, or ban, a business from its State-owned Campus, means that these students fail to understand that their "petition" requests "the government" to take an action which, if undertaken, would constitute an attempt to punish that business because its CEO exercised his free speech rights, as well as his right to freedom of religion and free exercise.
Sadly, we are yielding up our rights, sometimes without intending to do so--just out of sheer ignorance of the protections of our Constitution and those actions it prohibits government from taking.
You are exactly right! I totally misinterpreted your post. I have corrected so many people here and elsewhere who think that the “right to free speech” gives them the right to say or do anything they want without repercussion. I wonder how many people who assert their supposed rights under the Constitution have actually read it. I would guess very few. You obviously are one who has not only read it, but understands it. Thank you for the clarification.
