TAMPA, Fla. Karl Rove on Monday predicted Rep. Todd Akin will lose by the widest margin of any Republican candidate in modern history if he remains in his Missouri Senate race against Sen. Claire McCaskill.
What he said was indefensible and the way he handled it made it worse, Rove told POLITICOs Mike Allen at the first POLITICO Playbook Breakfast at the Republican National Convention.
This is a program that he taped and obviously he saw nothing wrong with it in his tape, Rove said, pointing out that Akin didnt respond to the taped interview until two days later.
Rove said Akin has no option other than getting out of the race.

Rove is a vapid doooooooshbag....a doughboy-esque little squeeler swine....
but he is right on this account. Akin is a cancer.
“Something like this would naturally cause considerable consternation among a lot of people, and especially, “progressive women”’
This is the pertinent part, it was very offsetting to so many people, that they don’t see it as an error, but a deeply held belief by Akin, who thought what he said was true.
Some mistakes can’t be undone.
Rove can definitely be a jerk. But he is right here. To anyone considering giving a donation to the delusional Akin, please consider giving it to a food bank where it will do some good, rather than flushing it down the toilet.
Akin said he was in the race through November.
I suspect that will be the last we’ll ever hear from him.
Akin doesn’t measure up according to Rove so must be defeated despite the consequences. I’ve seen this play before.
I would like to ask my fellow Missouri Conservatives and others in their Right Mind, just who these morons at the National level of the eGOP think we’re going to pull for? Its a two person race, its either Air ObamaClaire McCaskill or Todd Akin. Does anyone anywhere really think we are going to drop support for a proven conservative, who happened to use a poor choice of words at the wrong time, and either abstain from voting at all for this office on the ballot, or pull for the insufferable, pro-abort, Zer0 lapdog, b!tch McCackle. If jackasses like Rove would let this go, it’d be over. Either way, McCackle is so despised here, Akin still wins. Note to National pundits, STFU and let us handle it locally. Concentrate on beating Hussein.
Time will tell.
Someone rolled the Magic 8 Karl Rove Ball and the answer is:
It is decidedly so.
(Which part/s of what he said offended you, specifically?)
But lets assume that maybe that didnt work or something. You know, I think there should be some punishment but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.
I am NEVER going to support the possibility that a raped woman must bring a child to term.
And if you want to take the opposite position how do you square that with something he said earlier in the interview?
So, for instance, a woman has a tubal pregnancy or something. Well, technically by my understanding life begins at conception, so you technically had conception. But the child doesnt have a chance and will soon kill a mother, okay? So I would say in those kinds of situations, you try to optimize life.”
Then the interviewer said later:
Charles Jaco:
Okay, so if an abortion can be considered in the case of, say, tubal pregnancy or something like that, what about in the case of rape? Should it be legal or not?
And Akin DID NOT disagree with the interviewer that he was AGAINST abortion for Tubal pregnancy that threatened the life of the mother.
You can’t have it both ways. If you believe that the raped woman should have to carry the baby to term how can you believe in tubal abortion???
the fact is that akin is an idiot and a fool.
He is a low IQ politicial who is an egomaniac. He only cares about himself.
Conservative stand or RINO never enters the equation.
all he had to say was he believes a child from a rape is a child none the less and worthy of life as anyone else...an acceptable pro life stance from any viewpoint
..... He did not have to repeat a moronic statement that was in a circular passed out by the local Luddite moron....which makes him twice the moron for repeating it....It solidified him as too stupid to hold public office greater than dog catcher.
Yeh -- his mistake was in believing what's in the GOP platform.
Surrender Dorothy!
“Here is what I object to Akins statement: That a woman who is pregnant by what she claims was a rape must not actually have been raped because the womans body shuts down when there is an actual rape (he used the word legitimate rape).’
When you step back from all the rhetoric surrounding this issue, you have to honestly come to the conclusion you have stated above.
It wasn’t a gaffe or a mistake in the use of words, it was his deeply held belief.
And that is both scary and sad.
The world changed while Karl Rove was out to lunch, and he missed it.
Perfect.
“Yeh — his mistake was in believing what’s in the GOP platform.”
well when you get a chance, post on the board here, the GOP definition as stated in their platform, defining legitimate rape.
Self-Fulfilling: By not shutting up about Akin, Rove helps make it happen.
” Rove, Card, and the Bush family should stuff socks in it, wash towels, bath towels, blankets, whatever it takes to clog their pie-hole so they cant voice an opinion.
How can one group of people get it wrong so often? “
Uh....because they aren’t on our side ?
It’s articles like this that reinforce my stance that if Akin loses, the fault now lays at the feet of the GOPe, organizations like the NRSC and Crossroads who pulled support, and all the Akin bashers on the right.
There should not be a single person right of center that openly talks about this thing by now. He’s in for now, and people need to shut up about it.
*sigh* Me too. O'Donnell, Angle, Miller, Buck, etc.
