Although some on the right were disappointed that Romney did not pursue this, he was wise not to. This was not the right time. The right time is during a debate. At least one moderator will find Romney's bait irresistible, and I am guessing it will be CNN's Candy Crowley. What follows is a proposed strategy for the Hofstra University debate on October 16. My guess is that Romney has pretty much figured it out already, thus the remark in Michigan:
CC: Governor Romney, in Michigan you told a crowd of supporters, "No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate." Don't you believe that the birth certificate President Obama presented last year is valid?
MR: I have questions about its validity, but that is not why I raised the issue.
CC: Why did you, then? Weren't you afraid that some people, minorities and immigrants especially, will see that as a subtle attack on President Obama because of his race?
MR: Candy, not at all. No one ever asked to see Jesse Jackson's birth certificate when he ran for president or Al Sharpton's when he ran. And they are both black, both proud representatives of the president's party. I raised that issue because of the unique uncertainty surrounding Obama's early years. I know I was born and raised in Michigan. I said as much. I would ask you or the president himself to tell us where he spent the first year of his life.
CC: Mr. President?
BO: Um, um, I am not sure I understand why this question is relevant.
CC: Governor?
MR: It is relevant because President Obama built his 2008 campaign, indeed his very persona, around the fact that he was born into a happy multicultural home. . .

What if he produces a valid document proving he was born in Hawaii? Should Romney then drop out of the race? Personally if Romney spends more than 10 seconds talking about anything besides the economy, he’s a fool.
He should just say “a lot of people have raised questions they would like answered, but fankly I want to talk about more important things, like where the next president will take the country”. That leaves the questions hanging, without opening Mitt up to charges of being a “birther”. Obama is going to lose on the issues anyway.
You have mail!
No, but you might be. A real man fight like a man, against a man. Not cowardly insults against a woman. Can't you fight like a man. Or you letting the Dems pull you down to their level. Just a wake up call.
Interesting that he sent that to you. Did you give the whole $2,500? ;)
Your Pee Wee Herman defense “I know you are but what am I” is hardly worthy of you Nick. I think you might have a ‘thing’ for 0bama’s Mama, maybe even 0bama himself. Get some help.
Actually, this is how Zero has gotten away with this for so long. The only thing he should produce is an unconditional release to the state of Hawaii stating that all of his records are to be made available to the public.
And as far as Mittens goes, I still insist he should have released 20 years of tax returns (real or fake) with “CERTIFICATE OF LIVE TAX RETURN” printed across the top and dared the media to call him on it.
Fascinating 2ndDV, how in these final 71 days before the election we’re discovering all sorts of interesting things about posters who seem to bend over backwards to carry water for the Kenyan usurper.
(I disliked Clinton as much anybody else, but I always thought the juvenile insults about Hillary, Reno, etc. to be embarrassing.)
Is “RaisingCain” an alter-ego you created last spring, lest you get zotted someday, because you both speak in a VERY similar voice? He/she has the snappy, sophomoric comebacks that try to deflect from what is being discussed, too. Or perhaps you are confederates or just of the same personality type? I’ve seen this before here, and I’m 300% sure you’ll deny everything, but anyone who looks back at your posts should see what I mean.
By the way, Ronald Reagan agreed with me 100%. He would never, did never, make these kinds of comments. I’ll stand with Reagan against you and Howard Stern any day of the week. Good luck.
I'm not sure if you know this but there are well known naked pictures of Obama’s mother on the internet, so you really can't be tooooo hard on MKJ for making the joke. His hypothesis has merit!
I have been on FR for over 10 years and people know me. I can’t apologize for being a Reagan Republican, no matter how much you dislike it. I’ve posted 14,729 threads and 26,804 replies. You can go back and read ‘em all.
Fistly, the limit is $2,300, not $2,500, second, if the O4A ever sent me anything, there’d be 4-5 very sorry people at my nearest democratic headquarters who would transmit the message in no uncertain terms to never, ever mail me anything again, and third, you’re giving him so much in-kind support here that you might have to register as a lobbyist.
The only thing I am disputing is it’s very bad form to go around insulting someone’s mother, especially saying that. I’m curious, did your Mother ever teach you it was not acceptable to say something like that in public, or she taught you that was good manners?
By the way, if you found out something that bad or worse about Romney’s mother would you not vote for him? Do you want to be judged by either of your parent’s behavior?
I’ve posted 15,357 threads and 35,279 replies even though I got here about 5 years later (didn’t have a PC before that) but that’s not the point, is it? The point is that by putting down Romney, you’re pushing up Obama. There are only two teams. Pick one.
