A new poll shows that support for Rep. Todd Akins (R-Mo.) Senate candidacy has sharply declined since he remarked in an interview broadcast Sunday that legitimate rape rarely causes pregnancy. Akin now trails Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) 50 percent to 41 percent in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch/News 4 poll, which showed him leading the Democrat by 5 points in late July...

Stick to the economy Todd.
There’s a nice Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterfield that will just perfect for the concession speech and crying fest that’s sure to follow this campaign. It’s not very big, but I doubt that many are going to show up for this wake.
From the Washington post. They’re always for the conservatives.
They haven’t even started running the ads yet. Those will commence on September 26th. Right now they are doing all they can to keep Akin floating, with hopes he doesn’t give up.
The Washington post will do their best to help the Democrats. Ignore them and get to work. We hold the high ground and they’re scared. It’s going to come down to whether we have the guts to hold the high ground.
Sheer lunacy for anyone to think this guy can win.
Todd Akin said something STUPID.and hurt him and the Republican party... Almost every one of McCaskills votes have HURT each and every Missourian...and by extension the American people.
How the party of Ted Kennedy - Sen. Byrd - Bill Clinton - Barney Frank and Al Franken can claim moral superiority and the false superiority is beyond me....
Will the voters see that...not likely with the current political climate...but if we had no politicians who have make stupid gaffe’s the chambers would be rather empty!
I still say something stinks here. They want to keep the Senate. Are there other Senate members who will be tossed out?
Not surprising, we’ve ripped defeat out from the jaws of victory often the last few years. Angle in Nevada, O’Donnell in Connecticut, Akin in Missouri. It’s silly, but we do it all the time. We could have thrown a mushroom against Reid and won, but of course we didn’t. Frustrating to say the least.
The liberals continue to do the smack. This is not helping conservatives to unite; their goal.
Washington compost would love to see him step down. Unreal,
to see the amount of hatred/name calling for this guy.
they like conservatives they know will lose
From the Washington post. Theyre always for the conservatives.
The pro-lifers want Akin to drop out because McCaskill is a guaranteed vote for pro-abortion bills every time, and there is zero chance Akin beats her.
All true, but life isn’t fair and politics is worse. This isn’t about Akins. He’s a good guy and a good conservative, but he took himself out of the race. So, now the only way to beat the Evil Witch of Missouri is for him to bow out and for the Missouri Republican Party to replace him with another pro life conservative.
Bad news for Akin, but he only has himself to blame.
The alternative is even worse for Akin. If he stays in, he will be blamed for the outcome forever more. Instead of retiring from public service in dignity, he will be cast into the wilderness by Republicans and Democrats alike. Again, he will only have himself to blame (and maybe his wife and son).
Are you kidding? They want him to stay in the race. McCaskill wants him to stay in the race. All the Democrats want him to stay in the race. As long as he remains the GOP candidate, McCaskill remains Senator for another six years. Wake up!
I agree. This is so frustrating and so unnecessary. When are these idiots going to learn you have to stay alert, on message, focused and disciplined.
Todd Akin should have been thanking God, his supporters and incredible luck that two better known candidates beat themselves to a pulp and allowed him to steal the nomination.
But no, during his first momemt in front of a prime time national stage he gives a rambling, incredibly stupid off-the-cuff answer to a deadly serious question. Ugh, so frustrating. Honest to God how could he do this?
The personal anguish he is suffering must be excruciating. He had the Senate seat in his hands and now he is fatally damaged goods. All we are going to be hearing from now until the election are two words, “legitimate rape.”
If he was an honorable, intelligent and very courageous man he would realize that he can no longer lead the fight against Senator Claire McCaskill. That he cannot be a credible spokesman for the conservative or pro-life movement.
Todd should do the right thing and step aside and let someone else who is not fatally damaged to carry on the good fight. I hope he does the right thing but I am not holding my breath.
