At least one arrest has been made during protests near the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
Authorities say that on Sunday at about 2:15 p.m., officers spotted a man they said had a machete strapped to his leg. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says deputies ordered 31-year-old Jason Wilson to stop but he kept walking.

“The headline writer is an idiot.”
Then there’s this from the article...
“...police say he said told them...”
Wasn’t there a FR article within the last day or so about print media getting rid of editors? Sounds like a bad idea...
Sorry, but I haven’t studied the subject. I only know what it is called because I was looking at them awhile back. Some were very expensive, several hundred dollars, but I doubt that you would need an expensive tool/weapon.
What I have is an old Machete that I have owned for over 40 years and I don’t even remember where I got it. I have used it for knocking down Canadian bull-weed and wild blackberry brush.
That's what I use mine for.
Well, there isn’t one here at my house. I’ll check those on Amazon again and go medium cost, whatever that is. It needs to keep an edge and be able to take down those vines/limbs. Those limbs are not thick and woody at this time but they will get that way. I need to whack them down when cool weather gets here. It’s about 100 degrees every day right now.

"...That's not a kukri...THAT'S a kukri!"
...Yeah ...and learn how to use it from a kookerybook
You can keep that 100*, I can’t breath air that hot.
Get a standard US-military-issue machete. The 18” one works fine. There’s a longer one available too, and one with a sawblade on the spine, but I don’t know how useful either one is. My 18” army-issue has lasted 20 years, and would cut through anything up to a 3/4” branch when properly sharpened. They cost about $23 from US Cavalry: http://www.uscav.com/search.aspx?search=machete&tabid=548&os=1&catid=5230
So we have a kook carrying a Kukri!
Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck
Not looks like but definitely is a kukri. Working, not tourist blade- great balance
>>>What kind/brand do you suggest?<<<
A knife that you can beat the crap out of without care?

$9.97. I own two. They’ve taken significant abuse and are still just fine.
What kind/brand do you suggest?
I have a couple of the Ontario Knife Co. machetes. one from a mil-surp place posted above (USCav) and a much older same model. The U.S. issue models are simple but very solid. Best tool for limbing small trees and light brush cutting.
Any Tractor Supply is going to have a selection too.
