TAMPA -- He lost the Ames straw poll by a whisker, he peaked too early in Iowa's caucuses, he missed the big headlines by not winning Maine's preference poll. Finally, today, Ron Paul came into some luck. The threat of Hurricane Isaac was scrapping the first day of the Republican National Convention. Reporters who had planned to preview day one were screwed. Editors suddenly remembered that Ron Paul was supposed to do something or other. And off they went to the Sun Dome, the arena at Southern Florida University, where 7000-odd people would join the "We Are the Future Rally."
It was Paul's second attempt at an "alternative convention." In 2008, he brought supporters to Minneapolis for the "Rally for the Republic." Tucker Carlson, in his pre-Daily Caller says, emceed the proceedings. I should say: He emceed them until Jesse Ventura spoke and started talking about 9/11, which scared Carlson (and Willie Geist) the hell out of there. Gary Johnson spoke at that rally, when he was a retired politician. Now that he was a Libertarian presidential candidate, he was absent. This was a Ron Paul show, a kind of tribute, and the candidate would use it to say all the things people never let him say. "I don't do it out of sacrifice," said the candidate. "I do it out of self-interest. I do it because it's good for me."
They say "Osama bin Laden would still be alive if we listened to you," said Paul. "You know what I say? So would the 3000 people killed on 9/11!" That, and every sticking-it-to-the-neocons comment, got huge cheers. When America's agressive, said Paul, "it's easier for them to kill us over there than to come over here, where the Second Amendment is alive and well."

Amen Ron, I you would have listened to me a lot of bad stuff would not have happened.
We have a lot of crap to clean up. It is what it is.
Baby steps. One step at a time.
Any of us could have prevented 9/11 by letting the islamderthals eat their oil, fight their own wars, and prevent them from coming here.
And had people listened to you, Kuwait would be called Iraq.
Ron Paul has become a legend in his own mind.
Once we start cleaning it up, we can point fingers and sending folks to jail.
Our first task is to fix it.
It’s a shame he has it all wrong on defense..
I tried to watch it on TV, but the speakers were too sleep-inducing.
I know Ron Paul is old but come one he really talked to Thomas Jefferson about islam and what to do about them.
So when the muslims first attacked US interests in 1783 off the cost of Libya, listening to Ron Paul would have been able to stop it?
The truth be known, muslims have a long history of attacking anything not muslim. In the absence of things non-muslim, they will attack other muslims. It is their way. Those that fail to understand this will suffer the consequences of their naive beliefs.
This is a pretty biased account. I’m going to look for more details. It’s an old trick to take the most provocative (or seemingly provocative) thing a person says and try to make the whole story about it.
What Paulinian Planet does this writer live on?
cost = coast.
wRONg Paul is retarded. His acolytes are worse.
Surrender would have prevented 911 at the cost of much worse here later.
“And had people listened to you, Kuwait would be called Iraq.”
Which actually demonstrates the point. We should have killed Saddam and his henchmen all properly the first time, instead of having to come back and do it again. And then we still don’t do it right, because we expect them to have a Democracy and be all enlightened and perfect despite the fact they’ve lived in a backward society ruled by a tyrant. The much maligned Machiavelli, who is correct, noted that it is very unlikely for a people who have lived under such conditions to continue long under freedom. It becomes even worse when you realize political Islam, which is coopted by the Marxists, is obsessed with absolute control and setting up a world wide caliphate. But here we our promoting these “freedom” movements like in Egypt (Even one of Romney’s advisers was bashing Glenn Beck for predicting it would turn out bad) or Syria or Iran and expecting something different.
I say if you need to kill them, kill them, and do it properly, and don’t sit around spending billions to trillions to rebuild them when they won’t even appreciate it. Even Mir Hussain Mousavi, the “green” leader in Iran, was the same fellow who invented Hizbollah, the Iranian anti-dissident police, and had KGB handlers for his teachers.
Sounds like Paul and Jeremias Wright are the prescient ones.
Sounds like Paul and Jeremias Wright are the prescient ones.
Seriously, is he delusional? A plan that was in the making during Clinton’s tenure would halt because Ron Paul was prez, early onset Alzheimers or delusions or both.
Can we have one election where we don’t have a Ross Perot figure???
Muzzies only understand and respend to brute force, you have to crush them before they crush you!
