Prince George, BC, Canada:
An American man traveling through Prince George was reunited with a big sum of cash that was stolen from his pick-up truck.
The 44-year-old business owner was in the process of relocating his family from Juneau, Alaska to Idaho, and was passing through Prince George.
He had parked his truck in a lot near the corner of George Street and 5th Avenue overnight, but the vehicle got broken into and nearly $50,000 in American currency was taken.
Police traced the evidence left at the scene, and found the suspect at a local motel.
The search of the room found over $44,000 in American currency. Another $1150 was found in a garbage bin.
All the cash was returned to the victim, who was described by officers as being "ecstatic".
The suspect has been held in custody on charges related to a Break & Enter from earlier in August.
If he tries to bring it back to the states, the DEA will grab it and say it’s drug money.
Bravo to Canada for doing right.

Canada Ping!
Do you suppose the Sheriff of Nottingham's guards had the same questions?
My Brother-in-Law had his pocket picked while they were visiting Paris. There was not that much money in his wallet but the next day the French police turned it over to the American Embassy.
The money was still in it.
“Bravo to Canada for doing right.”
I’ve been daily reading the news from the Roberson Valley (Prince George and Valemount) in BC for a few months now.
I’ve come to the conclusion that in that location, despite being in a socialist country, the morality and community are more like the U.S. of the 1950’s.
Nobody dumb enough to leave $50K in their vehicle deserves to get it back.
LOL! From the headline, I thought they meant Prince George’s County, Md. And what are Candadians doing in PG County?
Not if he declares it.
Excuse me, Canadians.
Whoa... You mean a police force investigated a property crime AT THE SCENE and then collected evidence and ACTED upon it?
I remember when police in the United States used to do this; now a days, the only way this thief would have been caught in most jurisdictions would be if he told someone about stealing the money, and that person was an informant, and recently arrested for some other crime so he could swap out the charge.
I have to agree.

it’s strange enough to hear someone carries that amount of cash.
It’s even stranger that he left it in his truck.
Suspicious to say the least and would someone like to defend his stupidity for me?
I thought PG County was full of “Canadians”?
;-P
He was moving his family from Alaska to Idaho. Why is $50,000 suspicious?
GREAT news, sir! We found your 50, 44, uh, your 38,000 dollars!
Just because its stupid doesn’t mean he deserves to have it stolen. Perhaps you think only smart people should have rights.
It would be a different place if it were :-)
If you needed to transport cash, how would you do it? Would you not stop for meals or bathroom breaks? If you did, would you try to carry it on your person? That might be more risky than leaving it in the truck.
