indigenous must mean “here when we got here” because “native americans”... aren’t “native”. I can trace my heritage back to the 1600’s. My family arrived here in 1753. How long until I’m considered “native”?

The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 gave them that right.

Many states, including, Utah & New Mexico overtly did not allow Indians to vote until 1956 & 1962.
