Then maybe these LEOs should be required to practice their craft in the center of a circular concrete-walled room filled with flower pots and 1 target. No backstops.
I watched the video as well...One cop was firing at the flower pots and oncoming vehicles in the street...
The other was shooting down the sidewalk towards the people running away and undoubtedly the ones coming toward him who were out of the range of the video...
Definitely need to eat your Wheaties prior to wielding that baby.
Yes...Jonesing for one REAL bad....however, my guess is ATF has yet to issue an opinion about it being legal... one trigger pull - two bullets is not kosher....my guess is the manufacturer is trying to work up a reliable two trigger model or just outright bribe the ATF....still not on the market as far as I can tell.
A gentleman who identified himself as a ranking desk officer on the NYC transit police came into my store yesterday morning & told me this same story. He also told me that it was a distinct “probability” that the shooter took his own life with a shot to his own temple.
He also said that the squad that took him down was some sort of elite group whose name I did not recognize.
This guy seemed to really know his stuff & was very believable.
He also seemed to think that it was very poorly handled.
i actually bought a pistol grip Mossberg pump back in 1986 at a gun store on Mott street downtown and walked back up to Union Square where i lived with it in a box cleared marked.
Is that not amazing?
oh yeah...and little rack of buck too
Prayers to the victims family of this nut job who didn’t have the brain power to deal with job loss. (Are there NO jobs in NYC?)
So, I guess that whoever made the flower pots is going to be in big trouble now with lawsuits? Or, most likely they were made in china and we all know they are one of our greatest friends so nobody can sue them. Right? Right? Too bad none of the civilians had their magic wonder woman bracelets on to deflect the shards headed their way.
Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
>You people are unbelievable! 9:OO AM on a Friday morning on one of the busiest streets in the world.<
Yessir. I visit NYC on an occasional basis. I cannot see how a police officer in that situation could guarantee no harm to bystanders whatsoever.
Red dot lasers in daytime, especially at ‘range’, are virtually invisible in sunlight - I tested a number of them for an engineering project needing a laser indicator in daylight.
There are more powerful green lasers that work better, but not something you see often.
Zackly!
I had my own little dust up not involving guns with NY’s finest at Christmas in 1984 and only a huge ruddy Irish sergeant and my southern accent saved me from a beat down or worse*
*don't traffic brawl with an undercover cop in the mad rush that is midtown Manhattan 3 days before Christmas at 6PM
Clearly the factual mistakes you make in your post given the luxury of watching the video and other photos, as often as you wish, discredits your position and judgement.
It is a good thing that you are no longer on the force.
“Stand and Deliver”
I'd bet my last dollar that this "the cops were bumbling fools" stuff is being orchestrated by personal injury lawyers who see images of new Ferraris dancing in their heads.
in the green hornet movie.
And besides, they shouldn’t have hit any flower pots, the dim wits should only hit the target. They were numbskulls
Bingo! I've seen midtown Manhattan on many a weekday morning.Anyone who's never seen it...look at that scene in Crocodile Dundee where he's trying to find the girl at a train station (Grand Central, maybe?).That'll give you an idea.
WaPo update yesterday said 3 bystanders received direct gunshot wounds and were in hospitals. Two victims had bullets removed by surgery. By inference it appears one victim had a through or grazing wound.
Flower pots were downrange....The problem was ammo that bounced off of them.
The photos at the Fifth Ave and 34th show that the NYPD reference "flower pots" were large green concrete tree planters approx. 3' high x 3' diam, usually weighing several hundred pounds.
The problem was that the two cops from a distance of 8 to 10 feet from the shooter managed to hit him with ten shots...in the arms, legs, and chest and missed 6 times with at least three of those misses directly striking by standers and the remaining richocheting off the curved tree planters, concrete sidewalks, and the hard granite building base.
The real surprise is that more bystanders weren't hit
