I know this is from politico, and I also know that the rabid anti-GOPe'rs will be on this thread like white on rice, but the fact remains, that Todd Akin did not make a good first impression.

IMO, he's out creeped Claire McCaskill, and Claire McCaskill has a war chest to keep on her message, that she is not as much a creep as Akin is.

I know, I know, Akin is a good conservative, but he has to live with his words and those words gave McCaskill and the democrats an armory full of ammunition.

Did you know that Obama said his faith in Jesus is not only real, but LEGITIMATE too!

I guess faith isn’t just faith to Obama.

60% - 70% of Republicans want a different presidential candidate than Romney.

Are we going to get a replacement?

It makes Akin, even though he did apologize, look unwise. It’s not fair, Democrats get away with all manner of palpable B.S. and Akin is called on the carpet for this.

A 9 point difference btw Akin and McCaskill is still too close for Politico and the liberal establishment, particularly given that his comment alienated a great number of female voters. I’m beginning to think he can come back.

the fact remains, that Todd Akin did not make a good first impression.

As a Congressman for 12 years, this wasn't his first impression to a lot of Missourians.

He's not dropping out so it's time for Republicans to give him a second chance and vote for the lesser of two evils, Anybody But McCaskill. If Akin flip-flops on the rape issue that still won't make him 2% the flip-flopper that Romney is.

My understanding is that Mr. Akins is a mental lightweight and only won a 3 way Republican primary because he was supported by the Democrat Party and Democrat funding. Sarah Palin backed a different candidate and most conservative groups also backed another candidate. The two conservative candidates split the Republican vote and Akins won a narrow victory by getting Democrats and to vote in the Republican primary.

Then the Democrat controlled MSM asked the dummy Akins the standard gotcha questions about rape and abortion etc and just stood back and watched him self destruct. Then Democrat money men(Soros?) promised Akins large financial contributions if he would stay in the race and not make way for a more intelligent candidate.

Claire the liberal was dead in the water. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence could have easily beaten her. But the Democrats maneuvered to get the one candidate in the entire state too dumb to beat her as her opponent.

ALCON Now hear this: We will all cease and desist from continued public pummeling of one of our own (at least we will, if we have any sense):

http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2012/08/friday-afternoon-roundup-carjackers-and.html

The link contains comments on several topics, one of which is a choice piece entitled: "The Akin Follies."

It starts like this:

THE AKIN FOLLIES

What I have to say isn't so much about Akin specifically, but in general terms how to react to cases like this. Much of the public takes its general impression of whether there is a problem by how the people who are running things react to it. If they react with hysteria, apologies, condemnations and a circular firing squad... they assume that there is a problem and that it is a very serious problem and that it indicates a basic failure of leadership.

Snip

Read and heed.

I am as conservative as they come and I hate the the RINO establishment. However, this is a no-brainer. Akin’s failure to withdraw and the Party’s inability to make him withdraw are fatal flaws.

OK...I'm a Republican voter and I have entered the polling booth and I will pull the lever for Romney but somehow people think I will go along with electing McCaskill. I don't care what people say to a pollster I believe in the end those voters will vote for Akin!!

I have an idea!

Every time one of our candidates misspeaks, let’s throw him under the bus!

We will win that way, for sure!
