Republicans have postponed their national convention in Tampa at least a day because of concerns about Tropical Storm Isaac.
The event will kick off Monday morning but the convention will immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.
Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th. After consulting with Governor Scott, NOAA and local emergency management officials, we are optimistic that we will begin an exciting, robust convention that will nominate the Romney-Ryan ticket, Priebus said.

Before I moved to this tropical paradise (Northern Virginia) I lived in Indiana where, the records show, they have derechos, thunderstorms, tropical storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes ~ albeit with a different frequency of occurrence. They also have massive floods that have several times in my life covered half the state with vast sheets of water up to your neck.
What I"ve learned over the years is to avoid scheduling large events in areas where there's a high probability of weather anomalies at that time of year. Doesn't matter if it hasn't rained in 10 years, if the statistics say there's a high probability of bad weather, then there's no sense taking that risk.
How many hurricanes have you been through? Anyone who treats the portential of a hurricane as a joke is either ignorant from lack of personal experience or an idiot - I hope you've never been through one.
Don't underestimate the bad things a hurricane can bring your way.
We had prepped over the years and when we lost power for nearly two weeks we had A/C, HD movies, cold milk and hot coffee the whole time.
They cancelled the 1st day of the Convention, didn’t they? What do you believe they ought to have done, cancelled the entire Convention?
The problem started when the doufouses at the RNC selected preibus to be their leader. he may know Wisconsin, but he doesn't know hurricane season
So the fact it has been 20+ years since the last hurricane hit Tampa doesn’t mnean anything? And what purpose is served now by carrying on about this non event which in the end resulted in a one day delay in the Convention and is off no political consequence?
My guess is you dislike Romney therefore anything he does or anyone else does who is part of his campaign will be roundly criticized by you.
He is the nominee, deal with it and come on board as over 90% of Republicans have done and more will do after they hear him and Ryan speak.
I think you don't understand.
LOL, it’s done! It’s a non issue at this point. In the theme of the campaign it is meaningless. Aside from causing a reshuffling of the schedule the whole thing is a giant yawn.

Look, we dumped the last RNC Chairman after he'd presided over our greatest electoral victory in 70 years ~ and whether or not his approach was helpful or not, no credit was given to him for a victory.
I say we can dump this doufous because he's a loser ~ imagine having a convention in a Tropical Storm or Hurricane. The statistics say the probability in late August in anyplace Florida is sky high!
Well, you're right, of course. But McCain had to shorten his convention because of a hurricane (over a thousand miles away,) too. The conventions are held in hurricane season -- sooner or later, this fear of the media has to stop.
