A huge explosion rocked Venezuela's biggest oil refinery early Saturday, killing at least 24 people and injuring more than 80 others in the deadliest disaster in memory for the country's key oil industry. Balls of fire rose over the Amuay refinery, one of the largest in the world, in video posted on the Internet by people who were nearby at the time.

This could very well be the 'Reichstag Fire' that starts WW III This is more of an @ssclown blast where you get an idiot socialist who confiscates private property, and gives out all the jobs to his just-as-stupid pals to manage things. They hire people who have absolutely no clue what they are doing and the natural conclusion occurs.
Sooner or later it all goes to hell, this was just an express ticket.
Prayers for all of the victims of the bloody death-cult of socialism.

Seems to me I read that when they nationalized the Petrol Industry a lot of the Foreign skilled workers high tailed it out of Hugo's hell hole to be replaced by local unskilled labor. Results are at hand.

Exactly right. Hugo’s socialist run refineries are roosting.
Getting your comrades to run factories where energetic materials are cooked at high temperatures is not the smartest play in the book. Let’s hope they don’t start playing with nuclear materials.

The Romney Team should be making a BIG deal about gas prices on the Campaign stump. Remind folks how the Media and Rats were all over the tube when GWB was President screaming bloody murder, Congressional hearings and so on. Where are they now? We have higher, sustained prices in a crap economy under Bambi. Break out the Video of Bambi talking about energy prices necessarily needing to go higher.

The engineering and project management for building this plant was executed by Fluor Corp. from their then Irvine, California office in late 70s-early 80s.
The Venezuela nationalized oil company was named Lagoven, but they retained expertice from Exxon, who previously operated there as Creole Petroleum Corporation, before nationalisation.
There could be a contract for Fluor, to repair this burned refinery.

Perhaps we should we take comfort in the thought that before they blew sky high, they met their ethnic/racial quotas for hiring?

It might actually cause the price of oil to go down for a while since there is a decrease in refining capacity that does not affect the United States; especially if storage tanks were not affected significantly.
